It is narrated from Imran bin Husain (may Allah be pleased with him), he said: A woman from the Ansar was taken captive, while the she-camel (Adba) had been captured before her. Imam Shafi’i (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Perhaps it was the Prophet’s ﷺ she-camel because the last part of the hadith indicates this. Imran bin Husain (may Allah be pleased with him) said: That woman was among them (the disbelievers) and they would bring their camels to her. One night, the woman escaped from captivity and came to the camels. Whenever she approached a camel and touched it, it would make a sound, so she would leave it, until she came to that she-camel and touched it, and it did not make a sound. And it was a very strong she-camel. The woman sat on its back, then she urged it on and it set off. That night, they searched for her but could not overpower her. The woman made a vow that if Allah saved her by means of it, she would sacrifice it. When the woman reached Madinah, the people recognized the she-camel and said: This is the she-camel of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. The woman said that she had made a vow that if Allah saved her by means of it, she would slaughter it. Upon hearing this, the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) said: By Allah! Do not slaughter it until we seek permission from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. They came to him ﷺ and told him the whole story, that such-and-such woman came on your she-camel and made a vow that if Allah saved her by means of it, she would slaughter it. Upon this, he ﷺ said (in amazement): “Subhan Allah! The woman has given a bad reward, that Allah saved her and she wants to slaughter it. There is no vow in that which involves disobedience to Allah or in that which a human or son of Adam does not own.”
