Brief Explanation
Explanation: From this hadith, it is understood that reviling or abusing the dead is not permissible, because whatever they did in the world, they have already become deserving of reward or punishment accordingly, and they are receiving it. Therefore, there is no need for us to speak ill of them now. However, for a legitimate religious benefit, it is permissible to inform the public about the character of disbelievers (kuffar), openly sinful people (fussaq), and innovators (people of bid‘ah), so that people can protect themselves from their disbelief, sinfulness, and innovation. This is not considered reviling them, but rather clarifying their reality to inform people so that they can safeguard themselves. The purified Shari‘ah permits this.
