Brief Explanation
Explanation: In these ahadith, the Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam has mentioned two of his special characteristics:
① Jawami‘ al-Kalim: Allah Ta‘ala granted you sallallahu alayhi wa sallam Jawami‘ al-Kalim. Jawami‘ al-Kalim refers to such speech whose wording is concise, meaning the words are very few but the meanings are vast. The Noble Qur’an is Jawami‘ al-Kalim, and likewise, the hadith of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam is also Jawami‘ al-Kalim. Your speech would be extremely brief, yet its meanings would be very detailed—as if an ocean is contained in a jug.
② Assistance through Awe (Ra‘b): Allah Ta‘ala assisted you sallallahu alayhi wa sallam through awe, meaning He cast your awe and majesty into the hearts of the disbelievers, as Allah Ta‘ala says: ﴿سَأُلْقِيفِيقُلُوبِالَّذِينَكَفَرُواالرُّعْبَ﴾ (Al-Anfal: 12) “I will soon cast awe into the hearts of those who disbelieve.”
And He said: ﴿سَنُلْقِيفِيقُلُوبِالَّذِينَكَفَرُواالرُّعْبَبِمَاأَشْرَكُوابِاللَّهِ﴾ (Aal ‘Imran: 151) “We will soon cast awe into the hearts of those who disbelieve because they associated partners with Allah.”
The noble statement of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam is: “I have been given five things which were not given to any prophet before me: I have been assisted through awe (ra‘b) for a distance of one month’s journey.” [بخاري : 335]
In another hadith it is stated: “I have been given superiority over the Prophets alayhimussalam by six things: I have been given Jawami‘ al-Kalim, and I have been assisted through awe (ra‘b).” [مسلم : 523]
