1242 - أنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ الْأَصْبَهَانِيُّ، نا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ شَهْرَيَارَ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ رِيذَةَ، قَالَا: نا الطَّبَرَانِيُّ، نا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سَهْلٍ الْعَسْكَرِيُّ، نا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سِنَانٍ الْقَزَّازُ، نا مُعَاذُ بْنُ عَوْذِ اللَّهِ الْقُرَشِيُّ، نا سُلَيْمَانُ التَّيْمِيُّ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «خِيَارُكُمْ مَنْ تَعَلَّمَ الْقُرْآنَ وَعَلَّمَهُ»
Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “The best among you is the one who learns the Qur’an and teaches it (to others).”

Explanation:
In these ahadith, the virtue of those who learn and teach the Noble Qur’an has been described. The Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam has declared such people to be the best, who themselves learn the Noble Qur’an and also teach it to others. This is because just as the Qur’an and its sciences are superior and loftier than all the books and sciences of the world, likewise those who learn and teach the sciences of the Qur’an are also the most distinguished and superior.
Allamah Dawud Raz rahimahullah has written: By learning the Qur’an, it is not merely meant to learn to recite its words, but rather, one should learn the words with correctness, then their meanings, then the intent and the circumstances of revelation, etc. In short, hadith and Qur’an are the two sciences of religion; whoever is engaged in their teaching and learning, his rank is higher than all other Muslims. (Bukhari Mutarjam: 550/6)
