Hadith 1311

Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When a Muslim plants something, and any human, jinn, bird, wild animal, beast, or any creature eats from it, then that is counted as charity for him."

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Muhammad Ibrahim bin Basheer
Benefit:
From this hadith, the virtue of farming is established, and it is known that whenever a farmer grows any crop, such as wheat and so on, countless animals eat from it, and so many animals consume so many grains that the farmer becomes annoyed. Similarly, when the crop is harvested, a great deal of it falls to the ground, and the animals eat to their fill.
From this hadith, the virtue of farmers is established: that for every animal that benefits from their crops, the reward will be given to the farmer—Subhan Allah.
In this, the condemnation of that farmer is mentioned who, for the sake of farming, abandons the prayers. Farming involves many tasks that require great busyness, and for this reason, most farmers neglect the prayers. (Except those upon whom my Lord has mercy)
