حَدِيثُ أُمِّ كُلْثُومٍ بِنْتِ عُقْبَةَ أُمِّ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا
Hadith of Umm Kulthum bint Uqbah, the mother of Humayd ibn Abdur-Rahman (may Allah be pleased with her)
Hadith 27271
حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ الْمُفَضَّلِ , قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ , عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ , عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ , عَنْ أُمِّهِ أُمِّ كُلْثُومٍ , عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , أَنَّهُ قَالَ : " لَيْسَ الْكَاذِبُ بِأَنْ يَقُولَ الرَّجُلُ فِي إِصْلَاحِ مَا بَيْنَ النَّاسِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Umm Kulthum (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "That person is not a liar who says something in order to reconcile between people."
Hadith 27272
حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي , عَنْ صَالِحِ بْنِ كَيْسَانَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمِ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ شِهَابٍ ، أَنَّ حُمَيْدَ بْنَ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ أَخْبَرَهُ , أَنَّ أُمَّهُ أُمَّ كُلْثُومٍ بِنْتَ عُقْبَةَ أَخْبَرَتْهُ , أَنَّهَا سَمِعَتْ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , يَقُولُ : " لَيْسَ الْكَذَّابُ الَّذِي يُصْلِحُ بَيْنَ النَّاسِ , فَيَنْمِي خَيْرًا , أَوْ يَقُولُ خَيْرًا " . وَقَالَتْ : وَقَالَتْ : لَمْ أَسْمَعْهُ يُرَخِّصُ فِي شَيْءٍ مِمَّا يَقُولُ النَّاسُ إِلَّا فِي ثَلَاثٍ : " فِي الْحَرْبِ , وَالْإِصْلَاحِ بَيْنَ النَّاسِ , وَحَدِيثِ الرَّجُلِ امْرَأَتَهُ ، وَحَدِيثِ الْمَرْأَةِ زَوْجَهَا " , وَكَانَتْ أُمُّ كُلْثُومٍ بِنْتُ عُقْبَةَ مِنَ الْمُهَاجِرَاتِ اللَّاتِي بَايَعْنَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ .
It is narrated from Hazrat Umm Kulthum (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "That person is not a liar who says something to reconcile between people and attributes something good or says a good word." And I have never given permission to lie except in three situations: in war, to reconcile between people, and for a husband and wife to please each other." It should be noted that Hazrat Umm Kulthum bint Uqbah (may Allah be pleased with her) was among those migrant women who pledged allegiance to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
Hadith 27273
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ , عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ , , عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ , عَنْ أُمِّهِ أُمِّ كُلْثُومٍ بِنْتِ عُقْبَةَ وَكَانَتْ مِنَ الْمُهَاجِرَاتِ الْأُوَلِ ، قَالَتْ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , يَقُولُ : " لَيْسَ الْكَذَّابُ مَنْ أَصْلَحَ بَيْنَ النَّاسِ , فَقَالَ خَيْرًا أَوْ نَمَى خَيْرًا " , وَقَالَ مَرَّةً : " وَنَمَى خَيْرًا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Umm Kulthum (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "That person is not a liar who says something to reconcile between people and attributes something good." It should be noted that Hazrat Umm Kulthum bint Uqbah (may Allah be pleased with her) was among those emigrant women who pledged allegiance to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
Hadith 27274
حَدَّثَنَا أُمَيَّةُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ , قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ ابْنُ أَخِي الزُّهْرِيِّ , عَنْ عَمِّهِ الزُّهْرِيِّ , عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ , عَنْ أُمِّهِ أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ تَعْدِلُ ثُلُثَ الْقُرْآنِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Umm Kulthum (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Surah Ikhlas is equal to one third of the Qur'an."
Hadith 27275
حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا لَيْثٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ سَعْدٍ , عَنْ يَزِيدَ يَعْنِي ابْنَ الْهَادِ , عَنْ عَبْدِ الْوَهَّابِ , عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ , عَنْ حُمَيْدِ ابْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ , عَنْ أُمِّهِ أُمِّ كُلْثُومٍ بِنْتِ عُقْبَةَ , قَالَتْ : مَا سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَخَّصَ فِي شَيْءٍ مِنَ الْكَذِبِ إِلَّا فِي ثَلَاثٍ : " الرَّجُلِ يَقُولُ الْقَوْلَ يُرِيدُ بِهِ الْإِصْلَاحَ , وَالرَّجُلِ يَقُولُ الْقَوْلَ فِي الْحَرْبِ , وَالرَّجُلِ يُحَدِّثُ امْرَأَتَهُ , وَالْمَرْأَةِ تُحَدِّثُ زَوْجَهَا " .

Hadith 27276
حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا مُسْلِمُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ , عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ عُقْبَةَ , عَنْ أُمِّهِ , عن أُمِّ كُلْثُومٍ , قال عبد الله : قَالَ أَبِي : حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ , قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُسْلِمٌ فَذَكَرَهُ , وَقَالَ : عَنْ أُمِّهِ أُمِّ كُلْثُومٍ بِنْتِ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ , قَالَتْ : لَمَّا تَزَوَّجَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أُمَّ سَلَمَةَ , قَالَ لَهَا : " إِنِّي قَدْ أَهْدَيْتُ إِلَى النَّجَاشِيِّ حُلَّةً وَأَوَاقِيَّ مِنْ مِسْكٍ , وَلَا أَرَى النَّجَاشِيَّ إِلَّا قَدْ مَاتَ , وَلَا أَرَى إِلَّا هَدِيَّتِي مَرْدُودَةً عَلَيَّ , فَإِنْ رُدَّتْ عَلَيَّ , فَهِيَ لَكِ " , قَالَ : وَكَانَ كَمَا قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , وَرُدَّتْ عَلَيْهِ هَدِيَّتُهُ , فَأَعْطَى كُلَّ امْرَأَةٍ مِنْ نِسَائِهِ أُوقِيَّةَ مِسْكٍ , وَأَعْطَى أُمَّ سَلَمَةَ بَقِيَّةَ الْمِسْكِ وَالْحُلَّةَ .
It is narrated from Hazrat Umm Kulthum bint Abi Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) that when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) married Hazrat Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her), he informed her that he had sent a suit and a few ounces of musk as a gift to the Negus, but he thought that the Negus had passed away and probably the gift he had sent would be returned. If that happened, it would belong to her. So it happened exactly as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had said, and the gift was returned. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) distributed one ounce of musk among all his noble wives, and the remaining musk and the suit he gave to Hazrat Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her).
Hadith 27277
حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ , قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ , عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ , عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ , عَنْ أُمِّهِ أُمِّ كُلْثُومٍ بِنْتِ عُقْبَةَ , قَالَتْ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , يَقُولُ : " لَيْسَ الْكَذَّابُ مَنْ أَصْلَحَ بَيْنَ النَّاسِ , فَقَالَ خَيْرًا , أَوْ نَمَى خَيْرًا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Umm Kulthum (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "That person is not a liar who says something to reconcile between people and attributes something good or says something good."
Hadith 27278
حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ , قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ , عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ , عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ , عَنْ أُمِّهِ أُمِّ كُلْثُومٍ بِنْتِ عُقْبَةَ أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ : رَخَّصَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنَ الْكَذِبِ فِي ثَلَاثٍ : " فِي الْحَرْبِ , وَفِي الْإِصْلَاحِ بَيْنَ النَّاسِ , وَقَوْلِ الرَّجُلِ لِامْرَأَتِهِ .
It is narrated from Hazrat Umm Kulthum (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) permitted lying in three situations: in war, in reconciling between people, and for a husband and wife to please each other.
Hadith 27279
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ , قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مَعْمَرٌ , عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي حُمَيْدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ , عَنْ أُمِّهِ أُمِّ كُلْثُومٍ بِنْتِ عُقْبَةَ ، قَالَ وَكَانَتْ مِنَ الْمُهَاجِرَاتِ الْأُوَلِ , قالَتْ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , يَقُولُ : " لَيْسَ بِالْكَذَّابِ مَنْ أَصْلَحَ بَيْنَ النَّاسِ , فَقَالَ خَيْرًا , أَوْ نَمَى خَيْرًا " , وَقَالَ مَرَّةً : " وَنَمَى خَيْرً " .
