حَدِيثُ أَبِي بَصْرَةَ الْغِفَارِيِّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ
Hadith of Abu Basrah al-Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him)
Hadith 27224
حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا لَيْثٌ ، عَنْ أَبِي وَهْبٍ الْخَوْلَانِيِّ ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ قَدْ سَمَّاهُ ، عَنْ أَبِي بَصْرَةَ الْغِفَارِيِّ صَاحِبِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " سَأَلْتُ رَبِّي عَزَّ وَجَلَّ أَرْبَعًا ، فَأَعْطَانِي ثَلَاثًا ، وَمَنَعَنِي وَاحِدَةً ، سَأَلْتُ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ أَنْ لَا يَجْمَعَ أُمَّتِي عَلَى ضَلَالَةٍ ، فَأَعْطَانِيهَا , وَسَأَلْتُ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ أَنْ لا يُظْهِرَ عليهم عدوًّا من غيرهم ، فأعطانيها ، وسألتُ الله عزَّ وجلَّ أَنْ لا يظهر عليهم عدوًا من غيرهم , فأعطانيها , وسألت الله عز وجل أن لَا يُهْلِكَهُمْ بِالسِّنِينَ ، كَمَا أَهْلَكَ الْأُمَمَ قَبْلَهُمْ ، فَأَعْطَانِيهَا ، وَسَأَلْتُ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ أَنْ لَا يَلْبِسَهُمْ شِيَعًا ، وَيُذِيقَ بَعْضَهُمْ بَأْسَ بَعْضٍ ، فَمَنَعَنِيهَا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Basrah Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: I asked my Lord for four things for my Ummah, out of which He granted me three and withheld one. I requested Him not to destroy them by a general famine and not to divide them into different sects so that they taste each other's punishment, but Allah Almighty withheld this from me.
Hadith 27225
حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ، عَنِ ابْنِ إِسْحَاقَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي يَزِيدُ بْنُ حَبِيبٍ ، عَنْ خَيْرِ بْنِ نُعَيْمٍ الْحَضْرَمِيِّ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ هُبَيْرَةَ السَّبَائِيِّ وَكَانَ ثِقَةً ، عَنْ أَبِي تَمِيمٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي بَصْرَةَ الْغِفَارِيِّ ، قَالَ : صَلَّى بِنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ صَلَاةَ الْعَصْرِ ، فَلَمَّا انْصَرَفَ ، قَالَ : " إِنَّ هَذِهِ الصَّلَاةَ عُرِضَتْ عَلَى مَنْ كَانَ قَبْلَكُمْ ، فَتَوَانَوْا فِيهَا ، وَتَرَكُوهَا ، فَمَنْ صَلَّاهَا مِنْكُمْ ، ضُعِّفَ لَهُ أَجْرُهَا ضِعْفَيْنِ ، وَلَا صَلَاةَ بَعْدَهَا حَتَّى يُرَى الشَّاهِدُ " , وَالشَّاهِدُ : النَّجْمُ.
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Basrah Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) led us in the Asr prayer, and after completing the prayer, he said: "This prayer was also presented to the people before you, but they were negligent in it and abandoned it. So whoever among you performs this prayer will receive double the reward, and after this, there is no prayer until the stars become visible."
Hadith 27226
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ هُبَيْرَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي تَمِيمٍ الْجَيْشَانِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي بَصْرَةَ الْغِفَارِيِّ ، قَالَ : أَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَمَّا هَاجَرْتُ ، وَذَلِكَ قَبْلَ أَنْ أُسْلِمَ ، فَحَلَبَ لِي شُوَيْهَةً كَانَ يَحْتَلِبُهَا لِأَهْلِهِ فَشَرِبْتُهَا ، فَلَمَّا أَصْبَحْتُ ، أَسْلَمْتُ ، وَقَالَ عِيَالُ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : نَبِيتُ اللَّيْلَةَ كَمَا بِتْنَا الْبَارِحَةَ جِيَاعًا ، فَحَلَبَ لِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ شَاةً ، فَشَرِبْتُهَا وَرَوِيتُ ، فَقَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَرَوِيتَ " , فقُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، قَدْ رَوِيتُ ، مَا شَبِعْتُ وَلَا رَوِيتُ قَبْلَ الْيَوْمِ ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنَّ الْكَافِرَ يَأْكُلُ فِي سَبْعَةِ أَمْعَاءٍ ، وَالْمُؤْمِنُ يَأْكُلُ فِي مِعًى وَاحِدٍ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Basrah Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him) that once, before accepting Islam, I migrated and presented myself in the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) milked a goat for me, which he used to milk for his family. I drank it, and as soon as morning came, I accepted Islam. The family members of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) began to talk among themselves that today, like yesterday, we will have to spend the day hungry. So, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) again gave me milk today; I drank it and became satiated. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked me: "Are you satiated?" I replied: O Messenger of Allah! Today I am so satiated as I have never been before, nor has my stomach ever been so full. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A disbeliever eats with seven intestines, and a believer eats with one intestine."
Hadith 27227
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ هُبَيْرَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي تَمِيمٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي بَصْرَةَ الْغِفَارِيِّ ، قَالَ : صَلَّى بِنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي وَادٍ مِنْ أَوْدِيَتِهِمْ يُقَالُ لَهُ : الْمُخَمَّصُ , صَلَاةَ الْعَصْرِ ، فَقَالَ : " إِنَّ هَذِهِ الصَّلَاةَ صَلَاةَ الْعَصْرِ , عُرِضَتْ عَلَى الَّذِينَ مِنْ قَبْلِكُمْ ، فَضَيَّعُوهَا ، أَلَا وَمَنْ صَلَّاهَا , ضُعِّفَ لَهُ أَجْرُهُ مَرَّتَيْنِ ، أَلَا وَلَا صَلَاةَ بَعْدَهَا حَتَّى تَرَوْا الشَّاهِدَ " ، قُلْتُ لِابْنِ لَهِيعَةَ : مَا الشَّاهِدُ ؟ قَالَ : الْكَوْكَبُ ، الْأَعْرَابُ يُسَمُّونَ الْكَوْكَبَ شَاهِدَ اللَّيْلِ .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Basrah Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) led us in the Asr prayer, and after completing the prayer, he said: "This prayer was also presented to the people before you, but they were negligent in it and abandoned it. Hadith 27228
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي لَيْثُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ ، عَنْ خَيْرِ بْنِ نُعَيْمٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي تَمِيمٍ الْجَيْشَانِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي بَصْرَةَ الْغِفَارِيِّ , قَالَ : صَلَّى بِنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَذَكَرَهُ.
The previous hadith is also narrated through this second chain of transmission.
Hadith 27229
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ هُبَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبَا تَمِيمٍ الْجَيْشَانِيَّ ، يَقُولُ : سَمِعْتُ عَمْرَو بْنَ الْعَاصِ ، يَقُولُ : أَخْبَرَنِي رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , يَقُولُ : إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , قَالَ : " إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ زَادَكُمْ صَلَاةً ، فَصَلُّوهَا فِيمَا بَيْنَ صَلَاةِ الْعِشَاءِ إِلَى صَلَاةِ الصُّبْحِ ، الْوَتْرُ الْوَتْرُ " ، أَلَا وَإِنَّهُ أَبُو بَصْرَةَ الْغِفَارِيُّ ، قَالَ أَبُو تَمِيمٍ : فَكُنْتُ أَنَا وَأَبُو ذَرٍّ قَاعِدَيْنِ ، قَالَ : فَأَخَذَ بِيَدِي أَبُو ذَرٍّ ، فَانْطَلَقْنَا إِلَى أَبِي بَصْرَةَ ، فَوَجَدْنَاهُ عِنْدَ الْبَابِ الَّذِي يَلِي دَارَ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْعَاصِ ، فَقَالَ أَبُو ذَرٍّ : يَا أَبَا بَصْرَةَ ، آنْتَ سَمِعْتَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , يَقُولُ : إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ زَادَكُمْ صَلَاةً ، صَلُّوهَا فِيمَا بَيْنَ صَلَاةِ الْعِشَاءِ إِلَى صَلَاةِ الصُّبْحِ ، الْوَتْرُ الْوَتْرُ ؟ " , قَالَ : نَعَمْ ، قَالَ : أَنْتَ سَمِعْتَهُ ؟ قَالَ : نَعَمْ ، قَالَ : أَنْتَ سَمِعْتَهُ ؟ قَالَ : نَعَمْ .
It is narrated from Hazrat Kharijah bin Hudhafah ‘Adawi (may Allah be pleased with him) that once, in the morning, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came to us and said: "Allah has added a prayer for you, which is better for you than red camels." We asked: "O Messenger of Allah! Which prayer is that?" The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "The Witr prayer, which can be offered at any time between the ‘Isha prayer and the rising of the sun."
Hadith 27230
حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ، عَنِ ابْنِ إِسْحَاقَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي يَزِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ ، عَنْ مَرْثَدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْيَزَنِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي بَصْرَةَ الْغِفَارِيِّ ، قَالَ : لَقِيتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ وَهُوَ يَسِيرُ إِلَى مَسْجِدِ الطُّورِ لِيُصَلِّيَ فِيهِ ، قَالَ : فَقُلْتُ لَهُ : لَوْ أَدْرَكْتُكَ قَبْلَ أَنْ تَرْتَحِلَ ، مَا ارْتَحَلْتَ ، قَالَ : فقال : ولم ؟ قَالَ : قَالَ : فَقُلْتُ : إِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , يَقُولُ : " لَا تُشَدُّ الرِّحَالُ إِلَّا إِلَى ثَلَاثَةِ مَسَاجِدَ الْمَسْجِدِ الْحَرَامِ ، وَالْمَسْجِدِ الْأَقْصَى ، وَمَسْجِدِي " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Basrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that once I met Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him), he was going towards the mosque of Toor to offer prayer. I said to him, if I had met you before your departure, you would never have undertaken this journey, because I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: Mounts should not be saddled except for visiting three mosques: Masjid al-Haram, my mosque, and Masjid al-Aqsa.
Hadith 27231
حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ , وَيُونُسُ , قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا اللَّيْثُ قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي يَزِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي الْخَيْرِ ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ الْكَلْبِيِّ ، عَنْ دِحْيَةَ بْنِ خَلِيفَةَ أَنَّهُ " خَرَجَ مِنْ قَرْيَتِهِ إِلَى قَرِيبٍ مِنْ قَرْيَةِ عُقْبَةَ فِي رَمَضَانَ ، ثُمَّ أَنَّهُ أَفْطَرَ وَأَفْطَرَ مَعَهُ نَاسٌ ، وَكَرِهَ آخَرُونَ أَنْ يُفْطِرُوا ، قَالَ فَلَمَّا رَجَعَ إِلَى قَرْيَتِهِ ، قَالَ : وَاللَّهِ لَقَدْ رَأَيْتُ الْيَوْمَ أَمْرًا مَا كُنْتُ أَظُنُّ أَنْ أَرَاهُ ، إِنَّ قَوْمًا رَغِبُوا عَنْ هَدْيِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأَصْحَابِهِ ، يَقُولُ ذَلِكَ لِلَّذِينَ صَامُوا ، ثُمَّ قَالَ عِنْدَ ذَلِكَ : اللَّهُمَّ اقْبِضْنِي إِلَيْكَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Dihyah bin Khalifah (may Allah be pleased with him) that once he left his village during the month of Ramadan and went to a nearby village from Uqbah. Then he and some people with him broke their fast, while some people (despite being travelers) did not consider it good to break the fast. When he returned to his village, he said: By Allah! Today I have seen something being done which I never thought I would see; some people are turning away from the ways of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and his companions. He said this regarding those who kept the fast. Then he said, O Allah! Call me to Yourself.
Hadith 27232
حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيد يعنى بْنُ أَبِي أَيُّوبَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي يَزِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ أَنَّ كُلَيْبَ بْنَ ذُهْلٍ أَخْبَرَهُ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدٍ يَعْنِي ابْنَ جَبْرٍ ، قَالَ : " رَكِبْتُ مَعَ أَبِي بَصْرَةَ الْغِفَارِيِّ صَاحِبِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي سَفِينَةٍ مِنَ الْفُسْطَاطِ فِي رَمَضَانَ ، فدفع , ثُمَّ قَرَّبَ غَدَاءَهُ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : اقْتَرِبْ ، فَقُلْتُ : أَلَسْنَا نَرَى الْبُيُوتَ ؟ فَقَالَ أَبُو بَصْرَةَ : أَرَغِبْتَ عَنْ سُنَّةِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ؟ ! " .
Ubaid ibn Jabr, may Allah have mercy on him, says that once during the month of Ramadan, I set out from a tent in a boat along with a companion of the Prophet (peace be upon him), Hazrat Abu Ghafari (may Allah be pleased with him). When the boat started moving, breakfast was presented to him. He asked me to come closer. I said, "We still cannot see the buildings of the city?" He replied, "Do you want to turn away from the Sunnah of the Prophet (peace be upon him)?"
Hadith 27233
حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا عَتَّابٌ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ ، عَنْ كُلَيْبِ بْنِ ذُهْلٍ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ جَبْرٍ ، قَالَ : " رَكِبْتُ مَعَ أَبِي بَصْرَةَ مِنَ الْفُسْطَاطِ إِلَى الْإِسْكَنْدَرِيَّةِ فِي سَفِينَةٍ ، فَلَمَّا دَفَعْنَا مِنْ مَرْسَانَا ، أَمَرَ بِسُفْرَتِهِ ، فَقُرِّبَتْ ، ثُمَّ دَعَانِي إِلَى الْغَدَاءِ ، وَذَلِكَ فِي رَمَضَانَ ، فَقُلْتُ : يَا أَبَا بَصْرَةَ ، وَاللَّهِ مَا تَغَيَّبَتْ عَنَّا مَنَازِلُنَا بَعْدُ ؟ ! فَقَالَ : أَتَرْغَبُ عَنْ سُنَّةِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ؟ ! قُلْتُ : لَا ، قَالَ : فَكُلْ ، فَلَمْ نَزَلْ مُفْطِرِينَ حَتَّى بَلَغْنَا مَاحُوزَنَا .
Ubaid ibn Jabr (may Allah have mercy on him) says that once, during the month of Ramadan, I set out from Fustat in a boat with a companion of the Prophet (peace be upon him), Hazrat Abu Ghafari (may Allah be pleased with him). When the boat started moving, breakfast was presented to him. He asked me to come closer. I said, "We still cannot see the buildings of the city?" He said, "Do you want to turn away from the Sunnah of the Prophet (peace be upon him)?" I said, "No." He said, "Then eat." So we continued eating and drinking until we reached our destination.
Hadith 27234
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ غَيْلَانَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا الْمُفَضَّلُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ ، عَنْ كُلَيْبِ بْنِ ذُهْلٍ الْحَضْرَمِيِّ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ جَبْرٍ ، قَالَ : رَكِبْتُ مَعَ أَبِي بَصْرَةَ السَّفِينَةَ ، وَهُوَ يُرِيدُ الْإِسْكَنْدَرِيَّةَ " ، فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ.
The previous hadith is also narrated through this second chain of transmission.
Hadith 27235
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَاصِمٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْحَمِيدِ يَعْنِي ابْنَ جَعْفَرٍ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي يَزِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ ، عَنْ مَرْثَدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي بَصْرَةَ الْغِفَارِيِّ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَهُمْ يَوْمًا : " إِنِّي رَاكِبٌ إِلَى يَهُودَ ، فَمَنْ انْطَلَقَ مَعِي ، فَإِنْ سَلَّمُوا عَلَيْكُمْ ، فَقُولُوا : وَعَلَيْكُمْ " ، فَانْطَلَقْنَا , فَلَمَّا جِئْنَاهُمْ ، وَسَلَّمُوا عَلَيْنَا ، فَقُلْنَا وَعَلَيْكُمْ .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Basrah Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him) that one day the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Tomorrow I will ride and go to the Jews, therefore do not initiate greeting them with Salam, and when they greet you with Salam, you should only say «وعليكم»." So when we reached there and they greeted us with Salam, we only said «وعليكم».
Hadith 27236
حَدَّثَنَا حَسَنٌ , حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي الْخَيْرِ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبَا بَصْرَةَ ، يَقُولُ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إنَّا غَادُونَ إِلَى يَهُودَ ، فَلَا تَبْدَءُوهُمْ بِالسَّلَامِ ، فَإِذَا سَلَّمُوا عَلَيْكُمْ ، فَقُولُوا : وَعَلَيْكُمْ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Basrah Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him) that one day the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Tomorrow I will ride and go to the Jews, therefore do not initiate greeting them with Salam, and when they greet you with Salam, then you should only say «وعليكم»."

حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْحَمِيدِ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي بَصْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنَّا غَادُونَ عَلَى يَهُودَ ، فَلَا تَبْدَءُوهُمْ بِالسَّلَامِ ، فَإِذَا سَلَّمُوا عَلَيْكُمْ ، فَقُولُوا : وَعَلَيْكُمْ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Basrah Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him) that one day the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Tomorrow I will ride and go to the Jews, therefore do not initiate greeting them with Salam, and when they greet you with Salam, you should only say «وعليكم»."
