Hadith 25019
حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا جَبْرُ بْنُ حَبِيبٍ ، عَنْ أُمِّ كُلْثُومٍ بِنْتِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ , عَنْ عَائِشَةَ : أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَّمَهَا هَذَا الدُّعَاءَ : " اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ مِنَ الْخَيْرِ كُلِّهِ عَاجِلِهِ وَآجِلِهِ مَا عَلِمْتُ مِنْهُ ، وَمَا لَمْ أَعْلَمْ ، وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الشَّرِّ كُلِّهِ ، عَاجِلِهِ وَآِجِلِهِ مَا عَلِمْتُ مِنْهُ ، وَمَا لَمْ أَعْلَمْ ، اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ مِنْ خَيْرِ مَا سَأَلَكَ عَبْدُكَ وَنَبِيُّكَ مُحَمَّدٌ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا عَاذَ مِنْهُ عَبْدُكَ وَنَبِيُّكَ ، اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ الْجَنَّةَ وَمَا قَرَّبَ إِلَيْهَا مِنْ قَوْلٍ أَوْ عَمَلٍ ، وَأَسْأَلُكَ أَنْ تَجْعَلَ كُلَّ قَضَاءٍ تَقْضِيهِ لِي خَيْرًا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) taught her this supplication: O Allah! I ask You for every good, whether immediate or delayed, whether I know it or do not know it, and I seek refuge in You from every evil, whether immediate or delayed, whether I know it or do not know it. O Allah! I ask You for every good that Your servant and Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked You for, and I seek refuge in You from every evil from which Your servant and Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sought refuge. O Allah! I ask You for Paradise and for every word and deed that brings one closer to it, and I seek refuge in You from Hellfire and from every word and deed that brings one closer to it. And I ask You that whatever decision You make for me, make it a decision of goodness.
Hadith 25020
حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا الْأَسْوَدُ بْنُ شَيْبَانَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو نَوْفَلِ بْنُ أَبِي عَقْرَبٍ , قَالَ : سَأَلْتُ عَائِشَةَ هَلْ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُتَسَامَعُ عِنْدَهُ الشِّعْرُ ؟ قَالَتْ : " كَانَ أَبْغَضَ الْحَدِيثِ إِلَيْهِ " .
Abu Nofal says that I asked Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), "Were poems recited in the presence of the Prophet (peace be upon him)?" She replied that it was the most disliked thing to the Prophet (peace be upon him).
Hadith 25021
حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، عَنِ الْأَسْوَدِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ : " كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَأْمُرُ إِحْدَانَا إِذَا حَاضَتْ أَنْ تَأْتَزِرَ ، ثُمَّ يُبَاشِرُهَا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) instructed me, I would tie my lower garment even though I was menstruating, then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would place his body against mine.
Hadith 25022
حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا سَعْدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، عَنْ طَلْحَةَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ : أَهْوَى إِلَيَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِيُقَبِّلَنِي ، فَقُلْتُ : إِنِّي صَائِمَةٌ . قَالَ : " وَأَنَا صَائِمٌ " . قَالَتْ : فَأَهْوَى إِلَيَّ فَقَبَّلَنِي .
It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) extended his hand to kiss me, so I said that I am fasting. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "I am also fasting." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) extended his hand towards me and kissed me.
Hadith 25023
حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا وُهَيْبٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا دَوُادُ ، عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ ، قَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ : قُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، إِذَا بُدِّلَتْ الْأَرْضُ غَيْرَ الْأَرْضِ ، وَالسَّمَوَاتُ ، وَبَرَزُوا لِلَّهِ الْوَاحِدِ الْقَهَّارِ ، أَيْنَ النَّاسُ يَوْمَئِذٍ ؟ قَالَ : " عَلَى الصِّرَاطِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that regarding this verse "The Day when the earth will be changed for another earth..." , I was the first to ask the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about it. I said, "O Messenger of Allah! (When the earth will be changed), where will the people be at that time?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied, "On the Bridge of Sirat."
Hadith 25024
حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ حَفْصٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ عُرْوَةَ بْنَ الزُّبَيْرِ ، قَالَ : قَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ : مَا يَقُولُونَ يَقْطَعُ الصَّلَاةَ ؟ قَالَ : يَقُولُونَ : يَقْطَعُ الصَّلَاةَ الْمَرْأَةُ وَالْكَلْبُ وَالْحِمَارُ ، قَالَتْ : " لَقَدْ رَأَيْتُنِي مُعْتَرِضَةً بَيْنَ يَدَيْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَاعْتِرَاضِ الْجِنَازَةِ " .
Once, Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) asked Urwah (may Allah have mercy on him) this question: "By which things is the prayer invalidated?" Urwah says, "We replied, 'By a woman and a donkey passing in front of the one praying.'" She said, "Then a woman would be a very bad animal! I have seen the time when I would be lying in front of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) like a corpse, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would continue to pray."
Hadith 25025
حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا هِشَامٌ ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ : أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَمَرَ بِقَتْلِ ذِي الطُّفْيَتَيْنِ ، فَإِنَّهُ يَلْتَمِسُ الْبَصَرَ وَيُصِيبُ الْحَبَلَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered the killing of those snakes which have two lines, because such snakes cause blindness and miscarry pregnancies from the wombs of women.
Hadith 25026
حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ : قَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ : لَمَّا نَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةُ : تُرْجِي مَنْ تَشَاءُ مِنْهُنَّ وَتُؤْوِي إِلَيْكَ مَنْ تَشَاءُ سورة الأحزاب آية 51 ، قَالَ : قَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ : " مَا أَرَى رَبَّكَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ إِلَّا يُسَارِعُ لَكَ فِي هَوَاكَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that when this verse was revealed: "You may defer whomever you wish among your wives and bring near whomever you wish," Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said, "I see that your Lord hastens to fulfill your desires."
Hadith 25027
حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ الْأَسْوَدَ بْنَ يَزِيدَ , ومَسْرُوقًا ، يقولان : نشهد على عائشة أنها قَالَتْ : " مَا كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عِنْدِي فِي يَوْمٍ ، إِلَّا صَلَّى رَكْعَتَيْنِ بَعْدَ الْعَصْرِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that whenever the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to me on any day, he would definitely perform two rak'ahs after Asr.
Hadith 25028
حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، قالَ : حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ : أَنَّها قَالَتْ : دَخَلَ عَلَيْنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ فِي يَوْمِ عِيدٍ ، وَعِنْدَنَا جَارِيَتَانِ تَذْكُرَانِ يَوْمَ بُعَاثَ ، يَوْمٌ قُتِلَ فِيهِ صَنَادِيدُ الْأَوْسِ وَالْخَزْرَجِ ، فَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ : عِبَادَ اللَّهِ ، أَمَزْمُورُ الشَّيْطَانِ ! عِبَادَ اللَّهِ ، أَمَزْمُورُ الشَّيْطَانِ ! عِبَادَ اللَّهِ ، أَمَزْمُورُ الشَّيْطَانِ ! قَالَهَا ثَلَاثًا ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " يَا أَبَا بَكْرٍ ، إِنَّ لِكُلِّ قَوْمٍ عِيدًا ، وَإِنَّ الْيَوْمَ عِيدُنَا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that once on the day of Eid, Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) came to her house, and there were two girls playing the duff and mentioning the Battle of Bu'ath, in which the prominent leaders of Aws and Khazraj were killed. Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) scolded them, so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him, "Leave them, for every nation has a festival, and today is our festival."
Hadith 25029
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَاصِمٍ ، عَنْ حُصَيْنِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ قَيْسٍ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْأَشْعَثِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ : بَيْنَا أَنَا عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، إِذْ اسْتَأْذَنَ رَجُلٌ مِنْ الْيَهُودِ ، فَأَذِنَ لَهُ ، فَقَالَ : السَّامُ عَلَيْكَ . فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " وَعَلَيْكَ " . قَالَتْ : فَهَمَمْتُ أَنْ أَتَكَلَّمَ ، قَالَتْ : ثُمَّ دَخَلَ الثَّانِيَةَ ، فَقَالَ : مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ . فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " وَعَلَيْكَ " . قَالَتْ : ثُمَّ دَخَلَ الثَّالِثَةَ ، فَقَالَ : السَّامُ عَلَيْكَ . قَالَتْ : فَقُلْتُ : بَلْ السَّامُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَغَضَبُ اللَّهِ إِخْوَانَ الْقِرَدَةِ وَالْخَنَازِيرِ ، أَتُحَيُّونَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِمَا لَمْ يُحَيِّهِ بِهِ اللَّهُ ؟ قَالَتْ : فَنَظَرَ إِلَيَّ ، فَقَالَ : " مَهْ ، إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يُحِبُّ الْفُحْشَ ، وَلَا التَّفَحُّشَ ، قَالُوا قَوْلًا ، فَرَدَدْنَاهُ عَلَيْهِمْ ، فَلَمْ يَضُرَّنَا شَيْئًا ، وَلَزِمَهُمْ إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ ، إِنَّهُمْ لَا يَحْسُدُونَا عَلَى شَيْءٍ كَمَا يَحْسُدُونَا عَلَى يَوْمِ الْجُمُعَةِ الَّتِي هَدَانَا اللَّهُ لَهَا ، وَضَلُّوا عَنْهَا ، وَعَلَى الْقِبْلَةِ الَّتِي هَدَانَا اللَّهُ لَهَا وَضَلُّوا عَنْهَا ، وَعَلَى قَوْلِنَا خَلْفَ الْإِمَامِ : آمِينَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that once I was sitting with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) when a Jewish man sought permission to enter. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) granted him permission. He came in and said, "As-saam alaik" (death be upon you). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) simply replied, "Wa alaik" (and upon you). I wanted to say something but refrained. Three times he came in the same way and kept saying the same thing. Finally, I said, "O brother of apes and swine! May death and Allah's wrath descend upon you! Do you address the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in a manner in which Allah has not addressed him?" Upon this, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) looked towards me and said, "Stop, Allah does not like foul language and indecency. They said something, and we replied to them. Now, nothing can harm us, but for them, this will remain obligatory until the Day of Judgment. These people do not envy us for anything as much as they envy us for the day of Jumu'ah, which Allah has guided us to and from which they have gone astray. Similarly, they envy us for saying 'Ameen' behind the Imam."
Hadith 25030
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَاصِمٍ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا مَنْصُورُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْحَجَبِيُّ ، عَنْ أُمِّهِ صَفِيَّةَ بِنْتِ شَيْبَةَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ أُمِّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ، قَالَتْ : " كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَتَّكِئُ عَلَيَّ وَأَنَا حَائِضٌ ، فَيَقْرَأُ الْقُرْآنَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to recite the Holy Qur'an while reclining in my lap, even though I was menstruating.
Hadith 25031
حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ عَوْنٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ عَمْرَةَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ : أَتَتْنِي بَرِيرَةُ تَسْتَعِينُنِي فِي مُكَاتَبَتِهَا ، فَقُلْتُ : لَهَا إِنْ شَاءَ مَوَالِيكِ صَبَبْتُ لَهُمْ ثَمَنَكِ صَبَّةً وَاحِدَةً وَأَعْتَقْتُكِ . فَاسْتَأْمَرَتْ مَوَالِيَهَا ، فَقَالُوا : لَا ، إِلَّا أَنْ تَشْتَرِطَ لَنَا الْوَلَاءَ . فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " اشْتَرِيهَا ، فَإِنَّ الْوَلَاءُ لِمَنْ أَعْتَقَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that once Barirah came to her; she was a mukatabah (a slave woman who had a contract for her freedom) and came with a request for help in paying the amount for her freedom. Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) asked her, "If your owners are willing to sell you, I will pay your entire price at once and set you free." She went to her owners and mentioned this to them. They said, "Not until she accepts the condition that her inheritance will go to us." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), "Buy her and set her free, for wala’ (the right of inheritance from a freed slave) belongs only to the one who sets the slave free."
Hadith 25032
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ بْنُ عَمْرٍو ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ يَعْنِي ابْنَ جَعْفَرٍ ، عَنْ أُمِّ بَكْرٍ : أَنَّ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ عَوْفٍ بَاعَ أَرْضًا لَهُ مِنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ عَفَّانَ بِأَرْبَعِينَ أَلْفَ دِينَارٍ ، فَقَسَمَ فِي فُقَرَاءِ بَنِي زُهْرَةَ وَفِي ذِي الْحَاجَةِ مِنَ النَّاسِ ، وَفِي أُمَّهَاتِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ . قَالَ الْمِسْوَرُ : فَدَخَلْتُ عَلَى عَائِشَةَ بِنَصِيبِهَا مِنْ ذَلِكَ ، فَقَالَتْ : مَنْ أَرْسَلَ بِهَذَا ؟ قُلْتُ : عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَوْفٍ ، فَقَالَتْ : إِنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , قَالَ : " لَا يَحِنُّ عَلَيْكُمْ بَعْدِي إِلَّا الصَّابِرُونَ " . سَقَى اللَّهُ ابْنَ عَوْفٍ مِنْ سَلْسَبِيلِ الْجَنَّةِ . .
Umm Bakr bint Maswar says that once ‘Abdur Rahman bin ‘Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) sold one of his lands to ‘Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) for forty thousand dinars, and he distributed all this amount among the poor of Banu Zuhrah, the emigrants, and the Mothers of the Believers. Maswar says that I took the share of ‘A’ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) to her. She asked, “Who sent this?” I replied, “‘Abdur Rahman bin ‘Awf (may Allah be pleased with him).” She said, “I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: ‘After me, those who will show kindness to you will be the patient ones.’ May Allah give ‘Abdur Rahman bin ‘Awf to drink from the Salsabeel of Paradise.”
Hadith 25033
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَتْنَا أُمُّ بَكْرٍ : أَنَّ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ عَوْفٍ بَاعَ أَرْضًا لَهُ ، فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ ، إِلَّا أَنَّهُ قَالَ : قَالَتْ : أَمَا إِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , يَقُولُ : " لَا يُحْنِي عَلَيْكُنَّ بَعْدِي إِلَّا الصَّابِرُونَ ".
Abu Sa'id narrated to us, Abdullah ibn Ja'far narrated to us, he said: Umm Bakr narrated to us: That Abdur Rahman ibn Awf sold a piece of land he owned, and mentioned the hadith, except that he said: She said: Indeed, I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say: "None will be patient with you after me except the patient ones."
Hadith 25034
حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ الْأَشْجَعِيِّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، عَنْ هَمَّامٍ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ : " لَقَدْ رَأَيْتُنِي أَحُتُّ الْمَنِيَّ مِنْ ثَوْبِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " . .
It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that several times I scraped semen from the clothes of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) with my fingers. Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) says that I used to scrape it (the semen) off.
Hadith 25035
حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، عَنْ هَمَّامٍ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ : كُنْتُ أَفْرُكُهُ.
Sufyan ibn 'Uyaynah narrated to us, from Mansur, from Ibrahim, from Hammam, from Aisha, who said: I used to scrape it off.
Hadith 25036
حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، عَنِ الْأَسْوَدِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ : كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " يَنَامُ حَتَّى يَنْفُخَ ، ثُمَّ يَقُومُ فَيُصَلِّي وَلَا يَتَوَضَّأُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that sometimes when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) slept, he would begin to snore, then upon waking up, he would start performing prayer without making a new ablution.
Hadith 25037
حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ زَيْدِ بْنِ جُدْعَانَ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيَّبِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِذَا جَاوَزَ الْخِتَانُ الْخِتَانَ ، فَقَدْ وَجَبَ الْغُسْلُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When the private part meets the private part, ghusl becomes obligatory.
Hadith 25038
حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ حَكِيمِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، عَنِ الْأَسْوَدِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ : " مَا رَأَيْتُ أَحَدًا كَانَ أَشَدَّ تَعْجِيلًا لِلظُّهْرِ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَلَا أَبِي بَكْرٍ ، وَلَا عُمَرَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that I have not seen anyone hasten the Zuhr prayer more than the Prophet (peace be upon him), Hazrat Abu Bakr, and Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him).
Hadith 25039
حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُغِيرَةُ بْنُ زِيَادٍ ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ : أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " كَانَ يُؤَخِّرُ الظُّهْرَ ، وَيُعَجِّلُ الْعَصْرَ ، وَيُؤَخِّرُ الْمَغْرِبَ ، وَيُعَجِّلُ الْعِشَاءَ فِي السَّفَرِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), while on a journey, would offer the Zuhr prayer at its last time and the Asr prayer at its earliest time; similarly, he would offer the Maghrib prayer at its last time and the Isha prayer at its earliest time.
Hadith 25040
حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عِمْرَانَ الْحَجَبِيُّ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ صَفِيَّةَ بِنْتَ شَيْبَةَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَا أَحَلَّ اسْمِي وَحَرَّمَ كُنْيَتِي ؟ ! وَمَا حَرَّمَ كُنْيَتِي وَأَحَلَّ اسْمِي ؟ ! " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Who is it that has made my name permissible and my kunyah forbidden, or who is it that has made my kunyah forbidden and my name permissible?
Hadith 25041
حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْعُمَرِيُّ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، وَعَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْقَاسِمِ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ : أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " أُلْحِدَ لَهُ لَحْدٌ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) and Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the blessed grave of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was built with a side niche.
Hadith 25042
حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ : سَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ مَوْتِ الْفَجْأَةِ ؟ فَقَالَ : " رَاحَةٌ لِلْمُؤْمِنِ ، وَأَخْذَةُ أَسَفٍ لِلْفَاجِرِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that I asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about sudden death, so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: For a believer, it is a relief, and for a sinner, it is a regretful punishment.
Hadith 25043
حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا كَهْمَسٌ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ بُرَيْدَةَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قالَتْ : جَاءَتْ فَتَاةٌ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَتْ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، إِنَّ أَبِي زَوَّجَنِي ابْنَ أَخِيهِ يَرْفَعُ بِي خَسِيسَتَهُ . " فَجَعَلَ الْأَمْرَ إِلَيْهَا " . قَالَتْ : فَإِنِّي قَدْ أَجَزْتُ مَا صَنَعَ أَبِي ، وَلَكِنْ أَرَدْتُ أَنْ تَعْلَمَ النِّسَاءُ أَنْ لَيْسَ لِلْآبَاءِ مِنَ الْأَمْرِ شَيْءٌ .
It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that a young woman came to the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said, "O Messenger of Allah! My father has married me to his nephew, and he speaks lowly things to me." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave her the authority over her own matter. So she said, "I accept the marriage that my father has arranged, but I want you to inform women that a father has no right to compel in this matter."
Hadith 25044
حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ : لَمَّا نَزَلَتْ : وَأَنْذِرْ عَشِيرَتَكَ الأَقْرَبِينَ سورة الشعراء آية 214 قَامَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : " يَا فَاطِمَةُ بِنْتَ مُحَمَّدٍ ، يَا صَفِيَّةُ بِنْتَ عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ ، يَا بَنِي عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ ، لَا أَمْلِكُ لَكُمْ مِنَ اللَّهِ شَيْئًا ، سَلُونِي مِنْ مَالِي مَا شِئْتُمْ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that when this verse was revealed: "And warn your close relatives," the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stood up and said, "O Fatimah bint Muhammad (peace be upon him), O Safiyyah bint Abdul Muttalib! And O Banu Abdul Muttalib, I have no authority to do anything for you before Allah. However, take from my wealth whatever you wish."
Hadith 25045
حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنِ الْمِقْدَامِ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ : مَنْ حَدَّثَكَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَالَ قَائِمًا فَلَا تُصَدِّقْهُ ، " مَا بَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ قَائِمًا مُنْذُ أُنْزِلَ عَلَيْهِ الْقُرْآنُ " .
Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) says that if anyone tells you that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) urinated while standing, then do not consider him truthful, because since the Qur'an was revealed to him, he never urinated standing without a valid excuse.
Hadith 25046
حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَقِيلٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ , أَوْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ : أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " ضَحَّى بِكَبْشَيْنِ سَمِينَيْنِ عَظِيمَيْنِ أَمْلَحَيْنِ أَقْرَنَيْنِ مَوْجِيَّيْنِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) or Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) sacrificed two healthy and large rams which were beautiful, horned, and castrated.
Hadith 25047
حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ زِيَادِ بْنِ أَبِي الْجَعْدِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَابِسٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ : " إِنْ كُنَّا لَنَرْفَعُ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْكُرَاعَ ، فَيَأْكُلُهُ بَعْدَ شَهْرٍ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that we have seen the time when we used to preserve the legs of our sacrificial animal and eat them after a month.
Hadith 25048
حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ أَبِي الصُّفَيْرَاءِ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي مُلَيْكَةَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَوْ كَانَ عِنْدَنَا سَعَةٌ ، لَهَدَمْتُ الْكَعْبَةَ وَلَبَنَيْنَاهَا ، وَلَجَعَلْتُ لَهَا بَابَيْنِ بَابًا يَدْخُلُ النَّاسُ مِنْهُ ، وَبَابًا يَخْرُجُونَ مِنْهُ " . قَالَتْ : فَلَمَّا وَلِيَ ابْنُ الزُّبَيْرِ هَدَمَهَا ، فَجَعَلَ لَهَا بَابَيْنِ ، قَالَتْ : فَكَانَتْ كَذَلِكَ ، فَلَمَّا ظَهَرَ الْحَجَّاجُ عَلَيْهِ هَدَمَهَا ، وَأَعَادَ بِنَاءَهَا الْأَوَّلَ.
It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: If I had the opportunity, I would demolish the Kaaba and rebuild it from the beginning, and I would make two doors for it—people would enter from one door and exit from the other. Then, when Hazrat Abdullah bin Zubair (may Allah be pleased with him) was appointed as caliph, he demolished the building and made its doors, and the construction remained in that way. Then, when Hajjaj bin Yusuf overpowered him, he demolished the Kaaba again and returned it to its previous construction.
Hadith 25049
حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْأَقْمَرِ ، عَنْ أَبِي حُذَيْفَةَ ، أَنَّ عَائِشَةَ حَكَتْ امْرَأَةً عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ذَكَرَتْ قِصَرَهَا ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " قَدْ اغْتَبْتِهَا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that once, in the presence of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), I began to imitate a man or a woman and mentioned that person’s short stature. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "You have backbitten him."
Hadith 25050
حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْأَقْمَرِ ، عَنْ أَبِي حُذَيْفَةَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، أَنَّهَا حَكَتْ امْرَأَةً ، فَقَالَ لَهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَا أُحِبُّ أَنِّي حَكَيْتُ أَحَدًا ، وَأَنَّ لِي كَذَا وَكَذَا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that once, in the presence of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), I began to imitate a man or a woman. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Even if I were to receive something greater in exchange for it, I would still not imitate anyone nor would I like it.
Hadith 25051
حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ حَبِيبٍ يَعْنِي ابْنَ أَبِي ثَابِتٍ ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ : سُرِقَ لِي ثَوْبٌ ، فَجَعَلْتُ أَدْعُو عَلَيْهِ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَا تُسَبِّخِي عَنْهُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that once a thief stole something in her house, and she cursed him. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to her: Do not make his sin seem light.
Hadith 25052
حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ مَرَّةً أُخْرَى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ حَبِيبٍ ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ : أَنَّهُ سُرِقَ ثَوْبٌ لَهَا ، فَدَعَتْ عَلَى صَاحِبِهَا ، فَقَالَ : " لَا تُسَبِّخِي عَنْهُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that once a thief stole something in her house, and she cursed him. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to her: Do not make his sin seem light.
Hadith 25053
حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا مِسْعَرٌ ، عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ أَبِي النُّجُودِ ، عَنْ زِرٍّ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ : " مَا تَرَكَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ دِينَارًا وَلَا دِرْهَمًا ، وَلَا عَبْدًا وَلَا أَمَةً ، وَلَا شَاةً وَلَا بَعِيرًا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not leave behind any dinar, any dirham, any goat or camel in his inheritance, nor did he make any bequest of anything.
Hadith 25054
حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنِ ابْنِ الْأَصْبَهَانِيِّ ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدِ بْنِ وَرْدَانَ ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، أَنَّ مَوْلًى لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَقَعَ مِنْ نَخْلَةٍ فَمَاتَ ، وَتَرَكَ شَيْئًا ، وَلَمْ يَدَعْ وَلَدًا وَلَا حَمِيمًا ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَعْطُوا مِيرَاثَهُ رَجُلًا مِنْ أَهْلِ قَرْيَتِهِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that once a freed slave of the Prophet (peace be upon him) fell from a date palm tree and died. He left behind some inheritance but did not leave any children or friends. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "Give his inheritance to a man from his settlement."
Hadith 25055
حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْأَسْوَدِ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " الْحَائِضُ تَقْضِي الْمَنَاسِكَ كُلَّهَا إِلَّا الطَّوَافَ بِالْبَيْتِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: A menstruating woman will perform all the rituals of Hajj, but she will not perform the Tawaf of the House of Allah.
Hadith 25056
حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي مُلَيْكَةَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ : خَرَجَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ عِنْدِي وَهُوَ قَرِيرُ الْعَيْنِ ، طَيِّبُ النَّفْسِ ، ثُمَّ رَجَعَ إِلَيَّ وَهُوَ حَزِينٌ ، فَقُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، إِنَّكَ خَرَجْتَ مِنْ عِنْدِي وَأَنْتَ قَرِيرُ الْعَيْنِ ، طَيِّبُ النَّفْسِ ، وَرَجَعْتَ وَأَنْتَ حَزِينٌ ؟ فَقَالَ : " إِنِّي دَخَلْتُ الْكَعْبَةَ ، وَوَدِدْتُ أَنِّي لَمْ أَكُنْ فَعَلْتُ ، إِنِّي أَخَافُ أَنْ أَكُونَ أَتْعَبْتُ أُمَّتِي مِنْ بَعْدِي " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) went out from my place very happy and cheerful, but after a short while he returned and was sad. I said, "O Messenger of Allah! When you left my place, you were happy and cheerful, and now you have returned sad." He replied, "I had entered the Ka'bah, then I thought that I should not have done so because I fear that in this way I may have put my Ummah into hardship after me."
Hadith 25057
حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سُلَيْمٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي مُلَيْكَةَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " اتَّقُوا النَّارَ وَلَوْ بِشِقِّ تَمْرَةٍ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Protect yourselves from the fire of Hell, even if it is with only half a date."
Hadith 25058
حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْقَاسِمُ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ ، حَدَّثَنِي ثُمَامَةُ بْنُ حَزْنٍ ، قَالَ : سَأَلْتُ عَائِشَةَ عَنِ النَّبِيذِ ؟ فَقَالَتْ : هَذِهِ خَادِمُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَسَلْهَا الْجَارِيَةُ حَبَشِيَّةٌ , فَقَالَتْ : " كُنْتُ أَنْبِذُ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي سِقَاءٍ عِشَاءً ، فَأُوكِيِهِ ، فَإِذَا أَصْبَحَ شَرِبَ مِنْهُ " .
Thumamah bin Hazn says that once I asked Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) about nabidh, so she called an Abyssinian slave-girl and said, "Ask her, she used to prepare nabidh for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)." She said, "I used to prepare nabidh for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) at night in a waterskin, tie its mouth, and hang it up. When morning came, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would drink from it."
