Hadith 23498
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Ayyub Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man came to the presence of the Prophet and said, "Give me some brief advice." The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "When you stand to perform your prayer, pray as if you are offering the prayer of farewell. Do not utter anything from your mouth for which you would have to apologize tomorrow, and remove your hopes from what people possess."

Abu Abdur Rahman Hubli (may Allah have mercy on him) says that once we were traveling by sea, and our leader was Abdullah bin Qais Khazari. With us was Hazrat Abu Ayyub Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him). Hazrat Abu Ayyub (may Allah be pleased with him) passed by the distributor, who had made the captives stand on one side, among whom was a woman who was crying. Hazrat Abu Ayyub (may Allah be pleased with him) asked, "What is the matter with this woman?" People informed him that she had been separated from her son. Hazrat Abu Ayyub (may Allah be pleased with him) took the hand of her son and placed it in the woman's hand. Seeing this, the distributor went to Abdullah bin Qais Fuzari and informed him of the matter. Abdullah sent a messenger to Hazrat Abu Ayyub (may Allah be pleased with him) to ask why he had done this. He replied, "I heard the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: Whoever separates a mother from her child, Allah will separate him from his loved ones on the Day of Resurrection."
Hadith 23500
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Ayyub (may Allah be pleased with him) that I heard the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: Soon cities will be conquered for you and your armies will be assembled, but some among you will not be willing to go with the army without wages. Indeed, it will happen that a man will leave his people and run away, and present himself before other tribes, saying: Is there anyone who will pay me such-and-such amount so that I may join the battlefield on his behalf? Remember! Such a person will remain a laborer until the last drop of his blood.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Ayyub (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to his companions (may Allah be pleased with them) and said: "Your Lord has given me the choice of two things: either seventy thousand people will enter Paradise without any reckoning, with complete forgiveness, or I may reserve my right concerning my Ummah." One of the companions (may Allah be pleased with him) asked, "O Messenger of Allah! Can anything be reserved with Allah?" Upon this, the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) went inside. After a short while, he came out saying "Allahu Akbar" and said: "My Lord has promised seventy thousand with every thousand, and with Him my right is also reserved." The narrator of the hadith, Abu Ruhm, asked Hazrat Abu Ayyub (may Allah be pleased with him), "O Abu Ayyub, in your opinion, what is that reserved right of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)?" Hearing this, people looked at him with devouring eyes and said, "What concern do you have with the reserved right of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)?" Hazrat Abu Ayyub (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "O leave it, I will tell you according to my estimation, rather with certainty, that the reserved right of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is this: O Lord! Whoever bears witness that there is no deity except Allah, He is alone, He has no partner, and that Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) is His servant and Messenger, and his heart confirms what his tongue says, then grant him entry into Paradise."

The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) resided on the lower floor, and Hazrat Abu Ayyub (may Allah be pleased with him) stayed on the upper floor. One night, he thought that we are walking above the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), so he spent the whole night in a corner. In the morning, he mentioned this to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), so the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "The lower floor is more suitable for me." He said, "I will not climb on the roof under which you are." Thus, Hazrat Abu Ayyub (may Allah be pleased with him) went downstairs and the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) went upstairs. It was the practice of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that when something was sent as a gift, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would also send some of it to Hazrat Abu Ayyub (may Allah be pleased with him). So one day, Hazrat Abu Ayyub (may Allah be pleased with him) came home and saw a bowl in which there were onions. He asked, "What is this?" The family said, "The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) has sent this." He went to the service of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said, "O Messenger of Allah! You did not even touch this bowl?" The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "I saw onions in it." He asked, "Are onions not lawful for us?" The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Why not, you may eat it. However, those come to me who do not come to you (Jibreel Amin and other angels (peace be upon them))."
Hadith 23518
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Ayyub Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) arrived in Madinah Munawwarah, he graced my house with his presence and said to me, "O Abu Ayyub! Shall I not teach you something?" I submitted, "O Messenger of Allah! Certainly." The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Whoever says these words in the morning: 'There is no deity except Allah, He is alone, He has no partner,' then Allah Almighty will write ten good deeds for him in exchange, forgive ten sins for him, or he will have the reward equal to freeing ten slaves, and until the evening these words will become a shield for him against Satan. And whoever says these words in the evening, the same ruling applies to him."
Hadith 23519
Hazrat Abu Ayyub Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) once said in Egypt, "By Allah, I do not understand how to use the toilets here, because the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said that when any of you goes to relieve himself, he should neither face the Qiblah nor turn his back towards it."

A man from the people of Makkah says that Yazid bin Muawiyah was the commander of the army in which Hazrat Abu Ayyub (may Allah be pleased with him) also participated in jihad. Yazid came to visit him during his illness of death, so he said to him: "When I die, convey my greetings to the people and inform them that I heard the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) say: 'Whoever dies in such a state that he does not associate anyone with Allah, Allah will admit him to Paradise.' And keep carrying me along, and as far as possible, keep taking me forward into the land of Rome."
