Hadith 22746
It is narrated from Hazrat Ubadah bin Samit (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) led us in prayer. During the recitation, he (peace and blessings be upon him) felt a heaviness upon himself. After finishing the prayer, he asked us, "Do you also recite (behind the Imam)?" We replied, "Yes, O Messenger of Allah!" The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "If you do not do so, there is no sin upon you, except that you must recite Surah Al-Fatihah, for without it, the prayer is not valid."
Hadith 22747
Hazrat Abu Umamah Bahili (may Allah be pleased with him) says that I asked Hazrat Ubadah (may Allah be pleased with him) about Surah Anfal, so he replied that this Surah was revealed concerning us, the companions of Badr, when there was a difference of opinion among us regarding the distribution of the spoils of war, and our attitude in this regard was not appropriate. Therefore, Allah took it away from among us and gave the authority of its distribution to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) distributed it equally among the Muslims.
Hadith 22748
It is narrated from Hazrat Ubadah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: There is no human being who dies on the face of the earth, for whom a good decision has been made by the Lord, who would consider returning to you as good—except for the one martyred in the way of Allah, for he wishes to return to the world so that he may attain martyrdom again.
Hadith 22749
It is narrated from Hazrat Ubadah bin Samit (may Allah be pleased with him) that I heard the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: The prayer of that person is not valid who cannot recite Surah Al-Fatihah or any other Surah in addition.

Hadith 22752
Mukhaddaji, who belonged to Banu Kinana, says that there was an Ansari man in Syria whose kunya was Abu Muhammad. He used to say that Witr is obligatory (fard). Mukhaddaji went to Hazrat Ubadah bin Samit (may Allah be pleased with him) and said, "Abu Muhammad considers Witr to be obligatory." Hazrat Ubadah (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "Abu Muhammad is mistaken. I heard the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) say: Allah has made five prayers obligatory upon His servants. Whoever performs them without neglecting anything from them and does not consider anything from their rights insignificant, then Allah has promised to admit him to Paradise. It is narrated from Hazrat Ubadah bin Samit (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) took a pledge from us on six things just as he took from women: that you will not associate anything with Allah, you will not steal, you will not commit adultery, you will not kill your children, you will not slander one another, and you will not disobey me in any good matter. Whoever among you commits a punishable offense with a woman and receives its immediate punishment, then that will be his atonement. But if he is given respite, then his matter is with Allah; if He wills, He will punish him, and if He wills, He will forgive him.

يَكْرَهُ الْأَنْفَالَ ، وَيَقُولُ : " لِيَرُدَّ قَوِيُّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ عَلَى ضَعِيفِهِمْ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Ubadah bin Samit (may Allah be pleased with him) that we set out with the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). I participated in the Battle of Badr. When the two parties confronted each other, Allah caused the enemy to be defeated. A group of Muslims pursued them, defeating and killing them, while another group turned towards their camps and began collecting the spoils of war, and a third group remained to protect the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) so that the enemy would not suddenly attack and harm him. When night fell and people began to return, those who had collected the spoils said, "We have gathered this, so no one else has a share in it." Those who had gone in pursuit of the enemy said, "You have no more right to it than us; we drove the enemy away and defeated them." Those who protected the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "You have no more right to it than us; we protected the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) because we feared that the enemy might suddenly attack him by deception while we were negligent." Upon this, the verse was revealed: "They ask you about the spoils of war..." Thus, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) distributed it equally among all the Muslims. And it was the practice of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that when he attacked the enemy's territory, he would give a quarter as a reward, and when returning from there, he would distribute a third as a reward among all the people. Apart from this, he considered extra spoils inappropriate and said that the strong Muslim should help the weak.
Hadith 22763
It is narrated from Hazrat Ubadah bin Samit (may Allah be pleased with him) that he asked the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about Laylat al-Qadr. The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "It occurs in the month of Ramadan. Seek it in the last ten nights of Ramadan, for it is in the odd nights—21st, 23rd, 25th, 27th, 29th, or the last night. And whoever stands (in prayer) on this night with faith and seeking reward, and he attains this night, then all his past and future sins are forgiven."
Hadith 22764
It is narrated from Hazrat Ubada (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: I have told you so much about the Dajjal that I fear you may not have understood. The Messiah Dajjal will be a man of short stature, there will be an unusual gap between his two legs, his hair will be curly, he will be one-eyed, one of his eyes will be wiped out, neither protruding nor sunken. If his matter becomes doubtful to you, then just remember this: your Lord is not one-eyed, and you cannot see your Lord before you die.

Another sign is that in the morning, when the sun rises, it rises straight and evenly, like a full moon, and it has no rays. And on that day, it is forbidden for Satan to rise with the sun."

Once, the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) entrusted a man to me. He stayed with me in my house, I included him in the food of my family, and I also taught him the Qur'an. When he was about to return to his home, he thought in his heart that I had some right over him, so he presented me with a bow as a gift, the wood and smoothness of which I had never seen better before. I went to the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and asked about it, "O Messenger of Allah! What is your opinion about this?" It is narrated from Hazrat Ubadah (may Allah be pleased with him) that I asked the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about the interpretation of Allah Almighty’s statement: "For them are glad tidings in the life of this world and in the Hereafter" , so the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: It means good dreams which a Muslim sees himself or another Muslim sees about him.
Hadith 22768
It is narrated from Hazrat Ubadah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever worships Allah in such a way that he does not associate anyone with Him, establishes prayer, pays zakat, listens and obeys, then Allah Almighty will give him the choice to enter through any of the eight gates of Paradise. And whoever worships Allah in such a way that he does not associate anyone with Him, establishes prayer, pays zakat, listens but disobeys, then Allah Almighty has the choice regarding him: if He wills, He may have mercy on him, and if He wills, He may punish him.

Ismail bin Ubaid Ansari, may Allah have mercy on him, while mentioning a hadith, says that Hazrat Ubadah, may Allah be pleased with him, said to Hazrat Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, "O Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with you! You were not with us at the time when we were pledging allegiance to the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. We pledged allegiance to the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, on the condition of listening and obeying in every situation, whether active or lazy, spending in ease and hardship, enjoining good and forbidding evil, speaking the truth about Allah and not fearing the blame of any blamer in this matter, helping the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, upon his arrival in Madinah Munawwarah, and protecting him as we would protect our own lives, wives, and children. In return for this, Paradise was promised to us. This is the pledge we made to the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. Now, whoever breaks it harms himself, and whoever remains loyal to this pledge, Allah the Exalted will fulfill the promise made to him through the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him."
Meanwhile, Amir Muawiyah, may Allah be pleased with him, wrote a letter to Hazrat Uthman Ghani, may Allah be pleased with him, saying, "Because of Hazrat Ubadah bin Samit, may Allah be pleased with him, there is unrest in Syria and among the people of Syria against me. Now, either you call Hazrat Ubadah, may Allah be pleased with him, to yourself, or I will remove myself from between him and Syria." In reply to this letter, Hazrat Uthman, may Allah be pleased with him, wrote to him, "Send Hazrat Ubadah, may Allah be pleased with him, with full respect, mounted, towards his house in Madinah Munawwarah." Accordingly, Hazrat Muawiyah, may Allah be pleased with him, sent him, and he reached Madinah Munawwarah. He went to Hazrat Uthman, may Allah be pleased with him, at his house, where, except for one man, there was no one from the earlier or later people. That man had found the group of companions, may Allah be pleased with them. When Hazrat Uthman, may Allah be pleased with him, came, he was sitting in a corner of the house. He turned towards him and said, "Ubadah! What is the matter between you and us?" He stood before the people and said, "I heard the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, say: 'After me, there will be rulers over you who will make you recognize deeds which you will dislike, and they will dislike deeds which you will consider good. So, whoever disobeys Allah, it is not necessary to obey him, and do not turn away from your Lord.'"

It is narrated from Hazrat Ubadah (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man came to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said, "O Messenger of Allah! What is the duration of ease for your Ummah?" The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not give him any answer. He asked the same question three times, and the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not answer him even once, until he went back. After a short while, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Where is that questioner?" The people called him. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him, "You have asked me a question that no one from my Ummah has asked me before. The duration of ease for my Ummah is one hundred years." He repeated this two or three times. The man asked, "Is there any sign or indication of its ending?" The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Yes! The earth sinking, earthquakes occurring, and devils being set upon the people."

It is narrated from Hazrat Ubadah (may Allah be pleased with him) that one night the companions (may Allah be pleased with them) could not find the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), even though it was their practice that whenever they camped at a place, they would keep the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) among them. The people became anxious and began to think that perhaps Allah Almighty had chosen some other companions for him besides them. While they were lost in such worries, the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) appeared. The people, out of joy, raised the slogan of Allahu Akbar and said, "O Messenger of Allah! We were afraid that perhaps Allah had chosen some other companions for you besides us." The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "It is not so; rather, you are my companions in this world and the Hereafter. The fact is that Allah Almighty woke me up and said, 'O Muhammad! Every prophet or messenger I sent made a request which I fulfilled, so O Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), you also ask from Me, you will also be given.' I submitted, 'My request is that on the Day of Resurrection, I be granted permission to intercede on behalf of my Ummah.' Hazrat Siddiq Akbar (may Allah be pleased with him) asked, 'O Messenger of Allah! What will be the result of this intercession?' The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, 'I will submit in the Divine Court, "O Lord! That intercession of mine which I had deposited with You?" Allah Almighty will say, "Yes!" Then my Lord will take the remainder of my Ummah out of Hell and admit them into Paradise.'"
Hadith 22772
It is narrated from Hazrat Ubadah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: A person's house is his sanctuary; whoever tries to enter your sanctuary (without permission), kill him.

Hazrat Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) said to Hazrat Ubadah (may Allah be pleased with him), “Ubadah! In such and such battles, what did the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) say regarding the khums (one-fifth share of war booty)?” He replied, “The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) led the people in prayer during that battle, placing a camel from the spoils of war as a sutrah (barrier) in front of him. When he finished the prayer and turned in greeting, he stood up, took the camel’s hump between his two fingers, and said, ‘This is your war booty, and apart from the khums, my share in it is equal to yours, and the khums is also returned to you. Therefore, if anyone has even a needle or thread, let him bring it, or if he has something bigger or smaller, let him return it as well. Do not commit treachery with the spoils of war, for treachery will be a cause of fire and shame for the traitor in this world and the Hereafter. Strive in Allah’s path against people, whether they are near or far, and do not care about the blame of any blamer regarding Allah. Uphold Allah’s limits in both travel and residence, and strive in Allah’s path, for striving in Allah’s path is one of the gates of Paradise, through which Allah grants relief from grief and distress to a person.’”

It is narrated from Hazrat ‘Ubada (may Allah be pleased with him) that among the judgments of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is also this: the blood of one who is killed while mining is wasted; the blood of one who dies by falling into a well is wasted; and the blood of one who dies from the wound of an animal is wasted. Also, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) decreed that one-fifth of buried treasure (rikaz) is for the public treasury (Bayt al-Mal). The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) also decreed that the dates of a tree will belong to the one who grafted it, unless the buyer stipulates otherwise.
The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) also decreed that the property of a slave will be considered as belonging to the master who sold him.
The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) also decreed that the child will belong to the owner of the bed, and for the adulterer there will be stones.
The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) also decreed that partners in land and houses have the right of pre-emption (shuf‘a). The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) also decreed that Haml bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) will inherit from his wife who was killed by another woman.
The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) also decreed that in the case of killing a fetus, the killer must pay a slave (male or female), whose heirs will be the husband and sons of the murdered woman. Haml bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) had children from both wives, so the father of the murderess, against whom the judgment was passed, said to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): “O Messenger of Allah! How can I pay compensation for a child who neither cried nor made a sound, who neither ate nor drank? Such things are usually left aside.” The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “This is from the soothsayers (who speak in rhymed and measured phrases).”
Also, regarding the wide part in the middle of the road where owners wish to extend their construction, it was decreed that seven cubits (width) should be left for the road, and this road was named “Mayta’” (dead, deserted). Also, regarding one, two, or three gardens in which people disputed the rights, it was decreed that wherever the branches of each garden or tree reach, that area will be included in that garden.
Also, regarding water channels in gardens, it was decreed that the first owner will irrigate his land before the next, and will let the water reach the ankles, then leave water for his neighbor, and so on until the gardens are finished or the water runs out.
It was also decreed that a woman should not give anything from her wealth to anyone without her husband’s permission.
It was also decreed that two valleys inherited will be divided equally, one-sixth each.
It was also decreed that if a person frees his share in a slave and has wealth, it is obligatory for him to grant complete freedom to the slave.
It was also decreed that no one should harm or be harmed.
It was also decreed that the oppressor has no right to a vein (i.e., no right to inheritance).
It was also decreed that city dwellers will not be prevented from using the collected water of wells in date gardens.
It was also decreed that villagers will not be prevented from taking extra water, so that extra grass may not be withheld from them.
It was also decreed that the major blood money (diyat kubra) consists of thirty bint labun, thirty hiqqah, and forty pregnant she-camels.
It was also decreed that the minor blood money (diyat sughra) consists of thirty bint labun, thirty hiqqah, twenty bint makhad, and twenty male ibn makhad.
After the passing of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), when camels became expensive and dirhams became of little value, Hazrat ‘Umar Farooq (may Allah be pleased with him) fixed the price of the blood money camels at six thousand dirhams, with one uqiyyah of silver for each camel. After some time, camels became even more expensive and dirhams even less valuable, so Hazrat ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) added two thousand dirhams, calculating two uqiyyahs for each camel. After some more time, camels became even more expensive, so Hazrat ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) fixed the total blood money at twelve thousand dirhams, calculating three uqiyyahs for each camel. One third of the blood money was increased in the sacred months (ashhur hurum), and the other third in the Sacred City (Makkah Mukarramah), thus the blood money for the two Harams became a full twenty thousand dirhams. It was said that blood money could be taken from villagers in animals, and they should not be obliged to pay in gold and silver. Similarly, from every nation, things of equal value to the price could be taken.

And he mentioned something similar to the hadith of Abu Kamil in its entirety, except that they differed in the chain of narration. Abu Kamil said in his hadith: from Ishaq ibn Yahya ibn Al-Walid ibn 'Ubadah that 'Ubadah said: "Among the judgments of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him..." And As-Salt said: from Ishaq ibn Al-Walid ibn 'Ubadah from 'Ubadah: "That among the judgments of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him..." and he mentioned the hadith.
Hadith 22780

It is narrated from Hazrat Ubadah bin Samit (may Allah be pleased with him) that this verse was revealed to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Those women who commit indecency..." So the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) dealt with such women in this manner. Once, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was sitting and we were also sitting around him (when revelation began to descend upon the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him). Whenever revelation would descend upon the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), his attention would turn away from us and we would also move away. The color of the Noble Prophet’s (peace and blessings be upon him) blessed face would change and he would experience great difficulty. In any case, when the state of revelation ended, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Take this from me, take this from me. Allah Almighty has set a way for women: If an unmarried man commits fornication with an unmarried woman, he should be given a hundred lashes and exiled for one year. And if a married man commits fornication with a married woman, he should be given a hundred lashes and also stoned."
Hadith 22781
It is narrated from Hazrat Sa'd bin 'Ubadah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever has been the leader of ten people will come on the Day of Resurrection with his hands bound, and nothing will release them except his justice. And whoever learned the Noble Qur'an and then forgot it, he will meet Allah as a leper.

" حَقَّتْ مَحَبَّتِي عَلَى الْمُتَحَابِِينَ فِيَّ ، وَحَقَّتْ مَحَبَّتِي عَلَى الْمُتَنَاصِِحِينَ فِيَّ ، عَلَى مَنَابِرَ مِنْ نُورٍ ، يَغْبِطُهُمْ بِمَكَانِهِمْ النَّبِيُّونَ وَالصِّدِّيقُونَ " .
Abu Muslim says that once I attended a gathering in which two companions of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) were present. Among them was a young and youthful companion whose complexion was radiant, with large black eyes and shining teeth. Whenever there was a disagreement among the people and he spoke, people would consider his word as final. Later, I found out that he was Hazrat Mu'adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him). The next day, I attended again and saw him praying behind a pillar. He shortened his prayer, sat quietly with his knees drawn up, and I approached him and said, "By Allah! I love you for the sake of Allah's majesty." He made me swear and asked, "Really?" I also swore and replied. He then said, "Those who love each other for the sake of Allah will be under the shade of Allah's Throne on the Day when there will be no shade except His. (After this, there is no doubt in the rest of the hadith.) For them, chairs of light will be set up, and due to their nearness to the Lord of the worlds, even the Prophets (peace be upon them), the truthful, and the martyrs will envy them." After leaving from there, I narrated this hadith to Hazrat Ubadah bin Samit (may Allah be pleased with him).

Hazrat Ubada (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I will narrate to you only that hadith which I myself heard from the tongue of Prophethood, and it is this: Allah Almighty says, "My love is assured for those who love each other for My sake; My love is assured for those who meet each other for My sake; My love is assured for those who spend on each other for My sake. They will be seated on pulpits of light, and even the Prophets and the Truthful will envy their seats."
Hadith 22784
It is narrated from Hazrat Ubadah (may Allah be pleased with him) that once I was ill, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to visit me along with some Ansari people. He asked the people present there, "Do you know who is a martyr?" The people remained silent. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked again, and the people remained silent again. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked the same question a third time, so I said to my wife, "Support me and make me sit up." She did so, and I submitted, "The person who accepts Islam, migrates, and then is martyred in the way of Allah, he is a martyr." The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "In that case, the martyrs of my Ummah will be very few. Being killed in the way of Allah is also martyrdom, dying from a stomach illness is also martyrdom, drowning and dying is also martyrdom, and a woman dying in the state of childbirth is also martyrdom."
Hadith 22785
It is narrated from Hazrat Ubadah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whenever any Muslim on the face of the earth supplicates to Allah for anything, Allah grants him that very thing or removes from him an equivalent amount of distress and hardship, as long as he does not supplicate for a sin or for severing ties of kinship.
