وَمِنْ حَدِيثِ ثَوْبَانَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ
And from the hadith of Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him)
Hadith 22441
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ بْنُ عَمْرٍو ، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ , وَابْنُ جَعْفَرٍ يَعْنِي غُنْدَرًا ، حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ أَبِي الْجَعْدِ ، عَنْ مَعْدَانَ بْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ ، عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " مَنْ تَبِعَ جِنَازَةً ، فَصَلَّى عَلَيْهَا فَلَهُ قِيرَاطٌ ، فَإِنْ شَهِدَ دَفْنَهَا ، كَانَ لَهُ قِيرَاطَانِ " , قَالُوا : وَمَا الْقِيرَاطَانِ ؟ قَالَ : " أَصْغَرُهُمَا مِثْلُ أُحُدٍ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever participates in a funeral will receive one qirat of reward, and whoever remains until the burial will receive two qirats, and the measure of one qirat is equal to Mount Uhud.
Hadith 22442
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مُرَّةَ ، عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ أَبِي الْجَعْدِ ، قَالَ : قِيلَ لِثَوْبَانَ حَدِّثْنَا , عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : لَتَكْذِبُونَ عَلَيَّ ! سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : " مَا مِنْ مُسْلِمٍ يَسْجُدُ لِلَّهِ سَجْدَةً إِلَّا رَفَعَهُ اللَّهُ بِهَا دَرَجَةً ، وَحَطَّ عَنْهُ بِهَا خَطِيئَةً " .
Salim bin Abi Al-Ja'd (may Allah have mercy on him) says that a person asked Hazrat Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) to narrate a hadith from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He replied, "You people attribute lies to me as you do to others. I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: 'Whenever any Muslim performs a prostration for the sake of Allah's pleasure, Allah raises him one degree and forgives one of his sins.'"
Hadith 22443
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ , وَحَجَّاجٌ , قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ أَبِي الْجُودِيِّ ، عَنْ بَلْجٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ الْمَهْرِيِّ ، قَالَ : وَكَانَ قَاصَّ النَّاسِ ، قَالَ : قِيلَ لِثَوْبَانَ : حَدِّثْنَا عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَاءَ فَأَفْطَرَ " , قَالَ حَجَّاجٌ : قُسْطَنْطِينِيَّةُ.
Abu Shaibah Mehri, may Allah have mercy on him, who used to preach in Constantinople, says that once a person said to Hazrat Thawban, may Allah be pleased with him, "Tell us a hadith." So he said, "I have seen that once the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, vomited, so the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, broke his fast."
Hadith 22444
حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ زُرَيْعٍ ، عَنْ خَالِدٍ الْحَذَّاءِ ، عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي أَسْمَاءَ ، عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " إِنَّ الْمُسْلِمَ إِذَا عَادَ أَخَاهُ الْمُسْلِمَ ، لَمْ يَزَلْ فِي خُرْفَةِ الْجَنَّةِ حَتَّى يَرْجِعَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When a Muslim man visits his Muslim brother who is ill, he walks through the gardens of Paradise.
Hadith 22445
حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَيُّوبُ ، عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ ، عَمَّنْ حَدَّثَهُ ، عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " عَائِدُ الْمَرِيضِ فِي مَخْرَفَةِ الْجَنَّةِ حَتَّى يَرْجِعَ " .

Hadith 22446
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ الْخَفَّافُ ، حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدٌ ، عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي أَسْمَاءَ ، عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ : " إِنَّ الْمُسْلِمَ إِذَا عَادَ أَخَاهُ لَمْ يَزَلْ فِي خُرْفَةِ الْجَنَّةِ حَتَّى يَرْجِعَ " .

Hadith 22447
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ ، حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ أَبِي الْجَعْدِ الْغَطَفَانِيِّ ، عَنْ مَعْدَانَ بْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ الْيَعْمُرِيِّ ، عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ مَوْلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ : " إِنِّي لَبِعُقْرِ الْحَوْضِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ أَذُودُ عَنْهُ النَّاسَ لِأَهْلِ الْيَمَنِ ، أَضْرِبُهُمْ بِعَصَايَ حَتَّى يَرْفَضَّ عَلَيْهِمْ " , قَالَ : فَسُئِلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ عَرْضِهِ ، فَقَالَ : " مِنْ مُقَامِي هَذَا إِلَى عُمَانَ " , وَسُئِلَ عَنْ شَرَابِهِ ، فَقَالَ : " أَشَدُّ بَيَاضًا مِنَ اللَّبَنِ ، وَأَحْلَى مِنَ الْعَسَلِ ، يَصُبُّ فِيهِ مِيزَابَانِ يَمُدَّانِهِ مِنَ الْجَنَّةِ ، أَحَدُهُمَا ذَهَبٌ وَالْآخَرُ وَرِقٌ " . .
It is narrated from Hazrat Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: On the Day of Resurrection, I will be at the rear part of my reservoir and I will be pushing people away for the people of Yemen, and I will push them away with my staff until they are separated. Someone asked the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): How wide will it be? The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Equal to the distance from this place to Oman. Then someone asked about its water, so he said: It will be whiter than milk and sweeter than honey, into which two channels will flow and increase its water. One of them will be of gold and the other of silver.
Hadith 22448
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ ، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ سَالِمٍ ، عَنْ مَعْدَانَ ، عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، مِثْلَهُ.
The previous hadith is also narrated through this second chain of transmission.
Hadith 22449
حَدَّثَنِي حَسَنُ بْنُ مُوسَى , وَحُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ , قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا شَيْبَانُ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنَ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ، قَالَ : وَحَدَّثَنِي أَبُو قِلَابَةَ الْجَرْمِيُّ أَنَّهُ أَخْبَرَهُ , أَنَّ شَدَّادَ بْنَ أَوْسٍ بَيْنَمَا هُوَ يَمْشِي مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي الْبَقِيعِ ، مَرَّ عَلَى رَجُلٍ يَحْتَجِمُ بَعْدَ مَا مَضَى مِنْ رَمَضَانَ ثَمَانِ عَشْرَةَ لَيْلَةً ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَفْطَرَ الْحَاجِمُ وَالْمَحْجُومُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) once, on the eighteenth day of Ramadan, passed by a man in Jannat al-Baqi‘ who was having cupping done. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The one who does cupping and the one who gets cupped, their fast is broken.
Hadith 22450
حَدَّثَنَا حَسَنُ بْنُ مُوسَى , وَحُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ , قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا شَيْبَانُ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى ، قَالَ : وَأَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو قِلَابَةَ ، أَنَّ أَبَا أَسْمَاءَ الرَّحَبِيّ حَدَّثَهُ ، أَنَّ ثَوْبَانَ مَوْلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَخْبَرَهُ , أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : " أَفْطَرَ الْحَاجِمُ وَالْمَحْجُومُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) that he heard the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: The one who applies cupping and the one to whom it is applied, their fast is broken.
Hadith 22451
حَدَّثَنَا حَسَنُ بْنُ مُوسَى ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ عَاصِمٍ الْأَحْوَلِ ، عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي الْأَشْعَثِ الصَّنْعَانِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي أَسْمَاءَ الرَّحَبِيِّ ، عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِذَا عَادَ الْمُسْلِمُ أَخَاهُ ، فَإِنَّهُ يَمْشِي فِي خَرْفَةِ الْجَنَّةِ حَتَّى يَرْجِعَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When a Muslim man visits his Muslim brother who is ill, he walks in the gardens of Paradise.
Hadith 22452
حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَيُّوبُ ، عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي أَسْمَاءَ ، عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنَّ اللَّهَ أَوْ إِنَّ رَبِّي زَوَى لِي الْأَرْضَ مَشَارِقَهَا وَمَغَارِبَهَا ، وَإِنَّ أُمَّتِي سَيَبْلُغُ مُلْكُهَا مَا زُوِيَ لِي مِنْهَا وَأُعْطِيتُ الْكَنْزَيْنِ الْأَحْمَرَ وَالْأَبْيَضَ , وَإِنِّي سَأَلْتُ رَبِّي لِأُمَّتِي أَنْ لَا يُهْلِكَهَا بِسَنَةٍ بِعَامَّةٍ ، وَلَا يُسَلِّطَ عَلَيْهِمْ عَدُوًّا مِنْ سِوَى أَنْفُسِهِمْ فَيَسْتَبِيحَ بَيْضَتَهُمْ حَتَّى يَكُونَ بَعْضُهُمْ يَسْبِي بَعْضًا وَبَعْضُهُمْ يُهْلِكُ بَعْضًا ، وَلَوْ اجْتَمَعَ عَلَيْهِمْ مَنْ بَيْنَ أَقْطَارِهَا " ، أَوْ قَالَ : مَنْ بِأَقْطَارِهَا . " أَلَا وَإِنِّي أَخَافُ عَلَى أُمَّتِي الْأَئِمَّةَ الْمُضِلِّينَ ، وَإِذَا وُضِعَ السَّيْفُ فِي أُمَّتِي لَمْ يُرْفَعْ عَنْهَا إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ ، وَلَا تَقُومُ السَّاعَةُ حَتَّى تَلْحَقَ قَبَائِلُ مِنْ أُمَّتِي بِالْمُشْرِكِينَ ، وَحَتَّى تَعْبُدَ قَبَائِلُ مِنْ أُمَّتِي الْأَوْثَانَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Allah Almighty gathered the entire earth for me, so I saw its east and its west, and the rule of my Ummah will reach as far as the area that was gathered and shown to me. And I was given two treasures, the red and the white. And I requested my Lord for my Ummah that He should not destroy them by a general famine, and that He should not impose upon them an external enemy who would massacre them. So my Lord said: O Muhammad! No one can overturn what I have decreed. I have accepted your prayer for your Ummah that I will not destroy them by a general famine, and I will not impose upon them an external enemy who will commit great slaughter among them, even if their enemies gather against them from all corners of the world, until they themselves begin to destroy one another. And when the sword is placed among my Ummah, it will not be lifted from them until the Day of Resurrection. And the Hour will not be established until some tribes of my Ummah join the polytheists, and until some tribes of my Ummah begin to worship idols.
Hadith 22453
حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ أَمْلَاهُ عَلَيْنَا ، حَدَّثَنَا أَيُّوبُ ، عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي أَسْمَاءَ ، عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " أَفْضَلُ دِينَارٍ دِينَارٌ يُنْفِقُهُ الرَّجُلُ عَلَى عِيَالِهِ ، وَدِينَارٌ يُنْفِقُهُ عَلَى دَابَّتِهِ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ " , قَالَ : ثُمَّ قَالَ أَبُو قِلَابَةَ : مِنْ قِبَلِهِ بِدَّأً بِالْعِيَالِ ، قَالَ : وَأَيُّ رَجُلٍ أَعْظَمُ أَجْرًا مِنْ رَجُلٍ يُنْفِقُ عَلَى عِيَالِهِ صِغَارًا يُعِفُّهُمْ اللَّهُ بِهِ.
It is narrated from Hazrat Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The best dinar is the one which a man spends on his family, or spends on his mount in the way of Allah.
Hadith 22454
حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبَانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ ، عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ أَبِي الْجَعْدِ ، عَنْ مَعْدَانَ بْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ , عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " مَنْ صَلَّى عَلَى جَنَازَةٍ ، فَلَهُ قِيرَاطٌ ، وَمَنْ شَهِدَ دَفْنَهَا ، فَلَهُ قِيرَاطَانِ " , قِيلَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، وَمَا الْقِيرَاطَانِ ؟ قَالَ : " أَصْغَرُهُمَا مِثْلُ أُحُدٍ " .
