وَمِنْ حَدِيثِ ثَوْبَانَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ
And from the hadith of Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him)
Hadith 22402
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَكْرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا مَيْمُونٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبَّادٍ ، عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " لَا تُؤْذُوا عِبَادَ اللَّهِ ، وَلَا تُعَيِّرُوهُمْ ، وَلَا تَطْلُبُوا عَوْرَاتِهِمْ ، فَإِنَّهُ مَنْ طَلَبَ عَوْرَةَ أَخِيهِ الْمُسْلِمِ ، طَلَبَ اللَّهُ عَوْرَتَهُ حَتَّى يَفْضَحَهُ فِي بَيْتِهِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Do not trouble the servants of Allah, do not disgrace them, and do not seek out their faults, for whoever seeks out the faults of his Muslim brother, Allah will seek out his faults, until He disgraces him within his own house.
Hadith 22403
حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ زَيْدٍ ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ ، عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي أَسْمَاءَ ، عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَا تَزَالُ طَائِفَةٌ مِنْ أُمَّتِي عَلَى الْحَقِّ ظَاهِرِينَ ، لَا يَضُرُّهُمْ مَنْ خَذَلَهُمْ حَتَّى يَأْتِيَ أَمْرُ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: A group from my Ummah will always continue to strive for the truth, always remaining dominant, and no one who opposes them will be able to harm them until the command of Allah comes.
Hadith 22404
حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ , وَعَفَّانُ , قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ ، عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي أَسْمَاءَ ، عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ ، لَا أَعْلَمُهُ إِلَّا قَدْ رَفَعَهُ ، قَالَ : عَفَّانُ : عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ رَفَعَهُ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " عَائِدُ الْمَرِيضِ فِي مَخْرَفَةِ الْجَنَّةِ " , وَلَمْ يَشُكَّ فِيهِ ابْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ.
It is narrated from Hazrat Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) in a marfu’ form that when a Muslim man visits his Muslim brother who is ill, he walks in the gardens of Paradise.
Hadith 22405
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقْ ، عَنِ الْعَبَّاسِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ ، حَدَّثَنِي ثَوْبَانُ مَوْلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَنْ يَضْمَنُ لِي وَاحِدَةً وَأَضْمَنُ لَهُ الْجَنَّةَ ؟ " قَالَ : قُلْتُ : أَنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ , قَالَ : " لَا تَسْأَلْ النَّاسَ شَيْئًا " , قَالَ : فَكَانَ سَوْطُ ثَوْبَانَ يَسْقُطَُ وَهُوَ عَلَى بَعِيرِهِ ، فَيُنِيخُ حَتَّى يَأْخُذَهُ ، وَمَا يَقُولُ لِأَحَدٍ : نَاوِلْنِيهِ.
It is narrated from Hazrat Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever guarantees me one thing, I will guarantee him Paradise. Hazrat Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) offered himself. The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Do not ask people for anything. He replied: Alright. So after that, he never asked anyone for anything, even if he was riding and his whip fell, he would not ask anyone to pick it up; he would get down himself and pick it up.
Hadith 22406
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ زَيْدٍ ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ ، عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي أَسْمَاءَ ، عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَفْضَلُ دِينَارٍ يُنْفِقُهُ الرَّجُلُ عَلَى عِيَالِهِ ، ثُمَّ عَلَى نَفْسِهِ ، ثُمَّ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ ، ثُمَّ عَلَى أَصْحَابِهِ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ " , قَالَ أَبُو قِلَابَةَ : فَيَبْدَأُ بِالْعِيَالِ , وقَالَ سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ : وَلَمْ يَرْفَعْهُ , دِينَارٌ أَنْفَقَهُ رَجُلٌ عَلَى دَابَّتِهِ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ.
It is narrated from Hazrat Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The best dinar is the one which a man spends on his family, or spends on his mount in the way of Allah, or spends on his companions in the way of Allah.
Hadith 22407
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَاصِمٍ ، عَنْ خَالِدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي أَسْمَاءَ ، عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنَّ الْمُسْلِمَ إِذَا عَادَ أَخَاهُ الْمُسْلِمَ لَمْ يَزَلْ فِي مَخْرَفَةِ الْجَنَّةِ حَتَّى يَرْجِعَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When a Muslim man visits his Muslim brother who is ill, he walks through the gardens of Paradise.
Hadith 22408
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو إِسْحَاقَ الطَّالَقَانِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ ، عَنِ الْأَوْزَاعِيِّ ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو عَمَّارٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو أَسْمَاءَ الرَّحَبِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنِي ثَوْبَانُ ، قَالَ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَنْصَرِفَ مِنْ صَلَاتِهِ ، قَالَ : " أَسْتَغْفِرُ اللَّهَ " ثَلَاثًا , ثُمَّ يَقُولُ : " اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ السَّلَامُ وَمِنْكَ السَّلَامُ ، تَبَارَكْتَ ذَا الْجِلَالِ وَالْإِكْرَامِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) finished the prayer, he would seek forgiveness three times and then make this supplication: O Allah! You are the True Source of peace, and from You alone comes peace. O Possessor of Majesty and Honor! Your Being is greatly blessed.
Hadith 22409
حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ سَالِمٍ ، عَنْ مَعْدَانَ ، عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " أَنَا بِعُقْرِ حَوْضِي يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ أَذُودُ عَنْهُ النَّاسَ لِأَهْلِ الْيَمَنِ ، وَأَضْرِبُهُمْ بِعَصَايَ حَتَّى يَرْفَضَّ عَنْهُمْ " , قَالَ : قِيلَ لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : مَا سَعَتُهُ ؟ قَالَ : " مِنْ مَقَامِي إِلَى عُمَانَ ، يَغُتُّ فِيهِ مِيزَابَانِ يَمُدَّانِهِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: On the Day of Resurrection, I will be at the rear part of my reservoir and I will be pushing people away for the people of Yemen, and I will push them away with my staff until they are separated. Someone asked the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): How wide will it be? The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Equal to the distance from here to Oman, in which two channels will flow and will increase its water.
Hadith 22410
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْمُغِيرَةِ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي أَسْمَاءَ الرَّحَبِيِّ ، عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ مَوْلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : مَرَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِالْبَقِيعِ فِي ثَمَانِ عَشْرَةَ لَيْلَةً خَلَتْ مِنْ رَمَضَانَ بِرَجُلٍ يَحْتَجِمُ ، فَقَالَ : " أَفْطَرَ الْحَاجِمُ وَالْمَحْجُومُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) once passed by a man who was having cupping done in Jannat al-Baqi‘ on the eighteenth day of Ramadan. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The fast of the one who does cupping and the one who gets cupped is broken.
Hadith 22411
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْمُغِيرَةِ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنِي الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي مَعْدَانُ ، قَالَ : قُلْتُ : لِثَوْبَانَ مَوْلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَدِّثْنَا حَدِيثًا يَنْفَعُنَا اللَّهُ بِهِ , قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : " مَا مِنْ عَبْدٍ يَسْجُدُ لِلَّهِ سَجْدَةً ، إِلَّا رَفَعَهُ اللَّهُ بِهَا دَرَجَةً ، وَحَطَّ عَنْهُ بِهَا خَطِيئَةً " .
Ma'dan (may Allah have mercy on him) says that once I requested Hazrat Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) to narrate to me a hadith by which Allah may grant me benefit. He said: I heard the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) say: Whoever performs one prostration for the pleasure of Allah, Allah will raise him one degree because of it and forgive one of his sins.
Hadith 22412
حَدَّثَنَا الْحَكَمُ بْنُ نَافِعٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ عَيَّاشٍ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ الْحَارِثِ الذِّمَارِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي أَسْمَاءَ الرَّحَبِيِّ ، عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " مَنْ صَامَ رَمَضَانَ فَشَهْرٌ بِعَشَرَةِ أَشْهُرٍ ، وَصِيَامُ سِتَّةِ أَيَّامٍ بَعْدَ الْفِطْرِ فَذَلِكَ تَمَامُ صِيَامِ السَّنَةِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever fasts in the month of Ramadan, it will be equal to ten months, and by fasting six days after Eid al-Fitr, the reward will be as if he has fasted for the whole year.
Hadith 22413
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عِيسَى ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي الْجَعْدِ الْأَشْجَعِيِّ ، عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ مَوْلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، رَفَعَهُ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " لَا يَرُدُّ الْقَدَرَ إِلَّا الدُّعَاءُ ، وَلَا يَزِيدُ فِي الْعُمُرِ إِلَّا الْبِرُّ ، وَإِنَّ الْعَبْدَ لَيُحْرَمُ الرِّزْقَ بِالذَّنْبِ يُصِيبُهُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Nothing can avert destiny except supplication, and nothing increases life except righteousness, and sometimes a person is deprived of sustenance because of a sin that he commits.
Hadith 22414
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ , وَعِصَامُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ , قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا حَرِيزُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ مَيْسَرَةَ ، عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " اسْتَقِيمُوا تُفْلِحُوا ، وَخَيْرُ أَعْمَالِكُمْ الصَّلَاةُ ، وَلَنْ يُحَافِظَ عَلَى الْوُضُوءِ إِلَّا مُؤْمِنٌ " , وَقَالَ عِصَامٌ : " وَلَا يُحَافِظُ ".
It is narrated from Hazrat Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Remain steadfast, you will succeed. Your best deed is prayer, and only a believer maintains regular ablution.
Hadith 22415
حَدَّثَنَا الْحَكَمُ بْنُ نَافِعٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ ، عَنْ حَبِيبِ بْنِ صَالِحٍ ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ شُرَيْحٍ الْحَضْرَمِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي حَيٍّ الْمُؤَذِّنِ ، عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ : " لَا يَحِلُّ لَامْرِئٍ مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ أَنْ يَنْظُرَ فِي جَوْفِ بَيْتِ امْرِئٍ حَتَّى يَسْتَأْذِنَ ، فَإِنْ نَظَرَ فَقَدْ دَخَلَ ، وَلَا يَؤُمَّ قَوْمًا فَيَخْتَصَّ نَفْسَهُ بِدُعَاءٍ دُونَهُمْ ، فَإِنْ فَعَلَ فَقَدْ خَانَهُمْ ، وَلَا يُصَلِّ وَهُوَ حَقِنٌ حَتَّى يَتَخَفَّفَ " . .
It is narrated from Hazrat Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: It is not permissible for a Muslim man to even look into someone’s house without permission; if he does so, it is as if he has entered. And a person who leads people in prayer should not make supplication only for himself, leaving out the followers, because if he does so, he is being dishonest with them. And no person should perform prayer while suppressing the urge to urinate or defecate; rather, he should first relieve himself.
Hadith 22416
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْجَبَّارِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ يَعْنِي الْخَطَّابِيَّ , حَدَّثَنَا بَقِيَّةُ ، عَنْ حَبِيبِ بْنِ صَالِحٍ ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ شُرَيْحٍ ، فَذَكَرَ مَعْنَاهُ بِإِسْنَادِهِ.
The previous hadith is also narrated through this second chain of transmission.
Hadith 22417
حَدَّثَنَا الْحَكَمُ بْنُ نَافِعٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُبَيْدٍ الْكَلَاعِيِّ ، عَنْ زُهَيْرٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ جُبَيْرِ بْنِ نُفَيْرٍ ، عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ : " لِكُلِّ سَهْوٍ سَجْدَتَانِ بَعْدَ مَا يُسَلِّمُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: For every forgetfulness, there are two prostrations after concluding the prayer with salam.
Hadith 22418
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْيَمَانِ ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ ، عَنْ ضَمْضَمِ بْنِ زُرْعَةَ ، قَالَ شُرَيْحُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ : مَرِضَ ثَوْبَانُ بِحِمْصَ ، وَعَلَيْهَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ قُرْطٍ الْأَزْدِيُّ ، فَلَمْ يَعُدْهُ ، فَدَخَلَ عَلَى ثَوْبَانَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْكَلَاعِيِّينَ عَائِدًا ، فَقَالَ لَهُ ثَوْبَانُ : أَتَكْتُبُ ؟ فَقَالَ : نَعَمْ , فَقَالَ : اكْتُبْ فَكَتَبَ لِلْأَمِير عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ قُرْطٍ : مِنْ ثَوْبَانَ مَوْلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَمَّا بَعْدُ ، فَإِنَّهُ لَوْ كَانَ لِمُوسَى وَعِيسَى مَوْلًى بِحَضْرَتِكَ لَعُدْتَهُ ثُمَّ طَوَى الْكِتَابَ ، وَقَالَ لَهُ : أَتُبَلِّغُهُ إِيَّاهُ ؟ فَقَالَ : نَعَمْ , فَانْطَلَقَ الرَّجُلُ بِكِتَابِهِ ، فَدَفَعَهُ إِلَى ابْنِ قُرْطٍ ، فَلَمَّا قَرَأَهُ قَامَ فَزِعًا ، فَقَالَ النَّاسُ : مَا شَأْنُهُ ؟ أَحَدَثَ أَمْرٌ ؟ فَأَتَى ثَوْبَانَ حَتَّى دَخَلَ عَلَيْهِ فَعَادَهُ وَجَلَسَ عِنْدَهُ سَاعَةً ، ثُمَّ قَامَ فَأَخَذَ ثَوْبَانُ بِرِدَائِهِ ، وَقَالَ اجْلِسْ حَتَّى أُحَدِّثَكَ حَدِيثًا سَمِعْتُهُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، سَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ : " لَيَدْخُلَنَّ الْجَنَّةَ مِنْ أُمَّتِي سَبْعُونَ أَلْفًا لَا حِسَابَ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا عَذَابَ ، مَعَ كُلِّ أَلْفٍ سَبْعُونَ أَلْفًا " .
Shuraih bin Ubaid, may Allah have mercy on him, says that once in the city of Hims, Hazrat Thawban, may Allah be pleased with him, fell ill. At that time, the governor of Hims was Hazrat Abdullah bin Qurt Azdi, may Allah be pleased with him. He did not come to visit Hazrat Thawban, may Allah be pleased with him. Meanwhile, a man from the Kalaiyeen came to visit Hazrat Thawban, may Allah be pleased with him. He asked him, "Do you know how to write?" He replied, "Yes!" Hazrat Thawban, may Allah be pleased with him, said, "Write." So he wrote a letter to the governor of Hims, Hazrat Abdullah bin Qurt Azdi, may Allah be pleased with him: "From the freed slave of the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, Thawban. To proceed: If there had been a slave of Musa, peace be upon him, or Isa, peace be upon him, in your region, you would surely have gone to visit him." Then he rolled up the letter and said, "Will you deliver this letter to him?" He agreed, and took the letter and presented it to Hazrat Abdullah bin Qurt, may Allah be pleased with him. As soon as he read the letter, he became alarmed and stood up. People, seeing this, began to say in astonishment, "What has happened to him? Has some strange incident occurred?" He went straight from there to Hazrat Thawban, may Allah be pleased with him, entered the house, visited him, and after sitting for a short while, stood up to leave. Hazrat Thawban, may Allah be pleased with him, held his cloak and said, "Sit down so that I may tell you a hadith which I heard from the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. I heard the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, say: 'Seventy thousand people from my Ummah will certainly enter Paradise without any reckoning or punishment, and with every thousand, there will be seventy thousand more.'"
Hadith 22419
حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سَوَّارٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا لَيْثٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ سَعْدٍ ، عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ ، عَنْ عُتْبَةَ أَبِي أُمَيَّةَ الدِّمَشْقِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَّامٍ الْأَسْوَدِ ، عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ : " رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ تَوَضَّأَ وَمَسَحَ عَلَى الْخُفَّيْنِ وَعَلَى الْخِمَارِ " , يَعْنِي : الْعِمَامَةِ.
It is narrated from Hazrat Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) that I saw the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) wiping over his leather socks, his shawl, and his turban during ablution.
Hadith 22420
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ زُرَيْعٍ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي عَرُوبَةَ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ أَبِي الْجَعْدِ ، عَنْ مَعْدَانَ بْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ ، عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " مَنْ سَأَلَ مَسْأَلَةً وَهُوَ عَنْهَا غَنِيٌّ ، كَانَتْ شَيْئًا فِي وَجْهِهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever asks from someone while he is not in need, it will be a mark on his face on the Day of Resurrection.
Hadith 22421
حَدَّثَنَا زَيْدُ بْنُ الْحُبَابِ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو الزَّاهِرِيَّةِ ، عَنْ جُبَيْرِ بْنِ نُفَيْرٍ ، عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ مَوْلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : ذَبَحَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أُضْحِيَّةً لَهُ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ لِي : " يَا ثَوْبَانُ ، أَصْلِحْ لَحْمَ هَذِهِ الشَّاةِ " , قَالَ : فَمَا زِلْتُ أُطْعِمُهُ مِنْهَا حَتَّى قَدِمَ الْمَدِينَةَ.
It is narrated from Hazrat Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) slaughtered a sacrificial animal and said, "Thawban! Take good care of this goat's meat." So I continued to serve its meat to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) until he arrived in Madinah Munawwarah.
Hadith 22422
حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَاصِمٌ يَعْنِي الْأَحْوَلَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ يَعْنِي أَبَا قِلَابَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي الْأَشْعَثِ الصَّنْعَانِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي أَسْمَاءَ الرَّحَبِيِّ ، عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " مَنْ عَادَ مَرِيضًا لَمْ يَزَلْ فِي خُرْفَةِ الْجَنَّةِ " فَقِيلَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، وَمَا خُرْفَةُ الْجَنَّةِ ؟ قَالَ : " جَنَاهَا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When a Muslim visits his Muslim brother who is ill, he continues to walk in the gardens of Paradise until he returns.
Hadith 22423
حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ , وَأَبُو النَّضْرِ , قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ قَيْسٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ مُعَاوِيَةَ ، عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ مَوْلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَنْ يَتَقَبَّلُ لِي بِوَاحِدَةٍ أَتَقَبَّلُ لَهُ بِالْجَنَّةِ ؟ " قَالَ : قُلْتُ : أَنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ , قَالَ : " لَا تَسْأَلْ النَّاسَ شَيْئًا " , قَالَ : فَرُبَّمَا سَقَطَ سَوْطُ ثَوْبَانَ وَهُوَ عَلَى بَعِيرِهِ ، فَمَا يَسْأَلُ أَحَدًا أَنْ يُنَاوِلَهُ ، حَتَّى يَنْزِلَ إِلَيْهِ فَيَأْخُذَهُ . .
It is narrated from Hazrat Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever guarantees me one thing, I will guarantee him Paradise. Hazrat Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) offered himself. The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Do not ask people for anything. He replied: Alright. So after that, he never asked anyone for anything, even if he was riding and his whip fell, he would not ask anyone to pick it up; he would get down himself and pick it up.
Hadith 22424
حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ ، عَنِ الْعَبَّاسِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ مِينَاءَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ بْنِ مُعَاوِيَةَ , عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَنْ يَضْمَنُ لِي خُلَّةً وَأَضْمَنُ لَهُ الْجَنَّةَ ؟ " فَذَكَرَ مَعْنَاهُ.
The previous hadith is also narrated through this second chain of transmission.
Hadith 22425
حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا مَرْزُوقٌ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الشَّامِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ الشَّامِ ، حَدَّثَنَا ثَوْبَانُ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " إِذَا أَصَابَ أَحَدَكُمْ الْحُمَّى وَإِنَّ الْحُمَّى قِطْعَةٌ مِنَ النَّارِ ، فَلْيُطْفِئْهَا عَنْهُ بِالْمَاءِ الْبَارِدِ ، وَلْيَسْتَقْبِلْ نَهَرًا جَارِيًا يَسْتَقْبِلُ جِرْيَةَ الْمَاءِ فَيَقُولُ بِسْمِ اللَّهِ ، اللَّهُمَّ اشْفِ عَبْدَكَ وَصَدِّقْ رَسُولَكَ ، بَعْدَ صَلَاةِ الْفَجْرِ قَبْلَ طُلُوعِ الشَّمْسِ ، فَيَغْتَمِسُ فِيهِ ثَلَاثَ غَمَسَاتٍ ثَلَاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ ، فَإِنْ لَمْ يَبْرَأْ فِي ثَلَاثٍ فَخَمْسٍ ، فَإِنْ لَمْ يَبْرَأْ فِي خَمْسٍ فَسَبْعٍ ، فَإِنْ لَمْ يَبْرَأْ فِي سَبْعٍ فَتِسْعٍ ، فَإِنَّهُ لَا يَكَادُ يُجَاوِزُ التِّسْعَ بِإِذْنِ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When any of you gets a fever—which is a part of the fire—he should extinguish it with cold water. He should stand facing the direction of the flow in front of a running stream and say: "BISMILLAH ALLAHUMMA ISHFI ABDIKA WA SADIQ RASULAKA" (In the name of Allah! O Allah, grant Your servant healing and prove Your Messenger true). This should be done before sunrise and after the Fajr prayer. After that, he should immerse himself in the running stream three times, and do this for three days. If he is not cured in three days, then for five days, otherwise for seven, otherwise for nine days. He should not exceed nine days; inshaAllah (he will be cured).
Hadith 22426
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ ، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ أَبِي الْجَعْدِ ، عَنْ مَعْدَانَ بْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ ، عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " إِنِّي لَبِعُقْرِ حَوْضِي أَذُودُ عَنْهُ لِأَهْلِ الْيَمَنِ ، أَضْرِبُ بِعَصَايَ حَتَّى يَرْفَضَّ عَلَيْهِمْ " , فَسُئِلَ عَنْ عَرْضِهِ ، فَقَالَ : " مِنْ مُقَامِي إِلَى عُمَانَ " , وَسُئِلَ عَنْ شَرَابِهِ ، فَقَالَ : " أَشَدُّ بَيَاضًا مِنَ اللَّبَنِ ، وَأَحْلَى مِنَ الْعَسَلِ يَنْشَعِبُ فِيهِ مِيزَابَانِ يَمُدَّانِهِ مِنَ الْجَنَّةِ ، أَحَدُهُمَا مِنْ ذَهَبٍ ، وَالْآخَرُ مِنْ وَرِقٍ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: On the Day of Resurrection, I will be at the rear part of my reservoir and I will be pushing people away for the people of Yemen, and I will push them away with my staff until they are separated. Someone asked the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): How wide will it be? The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Equal to the distance from this place to Oman. Then someone asked about its water, so he said: It will be whiter than milk and sweeter than honey, into which two channels will flow and increase its water. One of them will be of gold and the other of silver.
Hadith 22427
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَكْرٍ , وَعَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ , قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ أَبِي الْجَعْدِ ، عَنْ مَعْدَانَ ، عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ مَوْلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ : " مَنْ فَارَقَ الرُّوحُ الْجَسَدَ وَهُوَ بَرِيءٌ مِنْ ثَلَاثٍ دَخَلَ الْجَنَّةَ : الْكِبْرِ ، وَالْغُلُولِ ، وَالدَّيْنِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever's soul departs from his body in such a state that he is free from three things will enter Paradise: arrogance, debt, and dishonesty regarding war booty.
Hadith 22428
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ , وَبَهْزٌ قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ , حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ ، عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ أَبِي الْجَعْدِ ، قَالَ : بَهْزٌ : عَنْ سَالِمٍ ، عَنْ مَعْدَانَ ، عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ مَوْلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " مَنْ فَارَقَ الرُّوحُ الْجَسَدَ وَهُوَ بَرِيءٌ مِنْ ثَلَاثٍ دَخَلَ الْجَنَّةَ : الْغُلُولِ ، وَالدَّيْنِ " , قَالَ بَهْزٌ : " وَالْكِبْرِ " .

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ , وَرَوْحٌ , قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ شَهْرِ بْنِ حَوْشَبٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ غَنْمٍ ، عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ مَوْلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " أَفْطَرَ الْحَاجِمُ وَالْمَحْجُومُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Both the one who applies cupping and the one to whom it is applied, their fast is broken.
Hadith 22430
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ , وَابْنُ بَكْرٍ , قَالَا : أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ , وَرَوْحٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي مَكْحُولٌ ، أَنَّ شَيْخًا مِنَ الْحَيِّ ، أَخْبَرَهُ , أَنَّ ثَوْبَانَ مَوْلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَخْبَرَهُ , أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " أَفْطَرَ الْحَاجِمُ وَالْمَحْجُومُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The one who applies cupping and the one to whom it is applied, both their fasts are broken.
Hadith 22430M
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ أَخَبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ عَنْ قَتَادَة عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ أَبِي الْجَعْدِ الْغَطَفَانِيِّ ، عَنْ مَعْدَانَ بْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ ، عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ ، قال : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَنَا عِنْدَ عُقْرِ حَوْضِي أَذُودُ النَّاسَ عَنْهُ لِأَهْلِ الْيَمَنِ ، إِنِّي لَأَضْرِبُهُمْ بِعَصَايَ حَتَّى يَرْفَضَّ عَلَيْهِمْ ، وَإِنَّهُ لَيَغُتُّ فِيهِ مِيزَابَانِ أَحَدُهُمَا مِنْ وَرِقٍ ، وَالْآخَرُ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ ، مَا بَيْنَ بُصْرَى , وَصَنْعَاءَ ، أَوْ مَا بَيْنَ أَيْلَةَ , وَمَكَّةَ " أَوْ قَالَ : " مِنْ مُقَامِي هَذَا إِلَى عُمَانَ ".
It is narrated from Hazrat Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: On the Day of Resurrection, I will be at the rear part of my reservoir and I will be pushing people away for the people of Yemen, and I will push them away with my staff until they are separated. There will be two channels pouring into it, increasing its water. One of them will be of gold and the other of silver, and the length of this reservoir will be the distance between Busra and Sana'a, or between Aylah and Makkah, or from that place to Oman.
Hadith 22431
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ وَابْنُ بَكْرٍ قَالَا: أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ وَرَوْحٌ: حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ: أَخْبَرَنِي مَكْحُولٌ أَنَّ شَيْخًا مِنَ الْحَيِّ أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ ثَوْبَانَ مَوْلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَخْبَرَهُ: أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ: «أَفْطَرَ الْحَاجِمُ وَالْمَحْجُومُ»
Abd al-Razzaq and Ibn Bakr narrated to us, they said: Ibn Jurayj and Rawh informed us: Ibn Jurayj narrated to us: Mak'hul informed me that a sheikh from the tribe informed him that Thawban, the freed slave of the Prophet ﷺ, informed him: that the Prophet ﷺ said: «أَفْطَرَ الْحَاجِمُ وَالْمَحْجُومُ»
Hadith 22432
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، حَدَّثَنَا مَعْمَرٌ , وَرَوْحٌ , حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي أَسْمَاءَ الرَّحَبِيِّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي ثَوْبَانُ مَوْلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : بَيْنَمَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّم يَمْشِي فِي الْبَقِيعِ فِي رَمَضَانَ رَأَى رَجُلًا يَحْتَجِمُ ، فَقَالَ : " أَفْطَرَ الْحَاجِمُ وَالْمَحْجُومُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) once passed by a man in Jannat al-Baqi‘ on the eighteenth day of Ramadan who was having cupping done. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The one who performs cupping and the one who gets cupped, their fast is broken.
Hadith 22433
حَدَّثَنَا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ ثَوْبَانَ ، حَدَّثَنِي حَسَّانُ بْنُ عَطِيَّةَ ، أَنَّ أَبَا كَبْشَةَ السَّلُولِيَّ حَدَّثَهُ , أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ ثَوْبَانَ ، يَقُولُ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " سَدِّدُوا وَقَارِبُوا وَاعْمَلُوا وَخَيِّرُوا ، وَاعْلَمُوا أَنَّ خَيْرَ أَعْمَالِكُمْ الصَّلَاةُ ، وَلَا يُحَافِظُ عَلَى الْوُضُوءِ إِلَّا مُؤْمِنٌ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Remain steadfast, stay close, and continue to do good deeds. Your best deed is prayer, and only a believer maintains regular ablution.
Hadith 22434
حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ , وَأَبَانُ , قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ ، عَنْ سَالِمٍ ، عَنْ مَعْدَانَ ، عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " مَنْ فَارَقَ الرُّوحُ الْجَسَدَ وَهُوَ بَرِيءٌ مِنْ ثَلَاثٍ دَخَلَ الْجَنَّةَ : الْكِبْرِ ، وَالدَّيْنِ ، وَالْغُلُولِ " .

Hadith 22435
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، قَالَ شُعْبَةُ : عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ سَالِمٍ ، عَنْ مَعْدَانَ ، عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَنْ صَلَّى عَلَى جَنَازَةٍ فَلَهُ قِيرَاطٌ ، فَإِنْ شَهِدَ دَفْنَهَا ، فَلَهُ قِيرَاطَانِ ، الْقِيرَاطُ مِثْلُ أُحُدٍ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever participates in a funeral will receive one qirat of reward, and whoever remains until the burial will receive two qirats, and the measure of one qirat is equal to Mount Uhud.

حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ , وَيَعْلَى , قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ ، عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ أَبِي الْجَعْدِ ، عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " اسْتَقِيمُوا وَلَنْ تُحْصُوا ، وَاعْلَمُوا أَنَّ خَيْرَ أَعْمَالِكُمْ الصَّلَاةُ ، وَلَا يُحَافِظُ عَلَى الْوُضُوءِ إِلَّا مُؤْمِنٌ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Remain steadfast, for you will never be able to encompass all deeds. However, know that your best deed is prayer, and only a believer maintains regular ablution.
Hadith 22437
حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ مُرَّةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ أَبِي الْجَعْدِ ، عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ ، قَالَ : لَمَّا نَزَلَ فِي الْفِضَّةِ وَالذَّهَبِ مَا نَزَلَ ، قَالُوا : فَأَيَّ الْمَالِ نَتَّخِذُ ؟ قَالَ : عُمَرُ : أَنَا أَعْلَمُ ذَلِكَ لَكُمْ , قَالَ : فَأَوْضَعَ عَلَى بَعِيرٍ فَأَدْرَكَهُ ، وَأَنَا فِي أَثَرِهِ ، فَقَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، أَيَّ الْمَالِ نَتَّخِذُ ؟ قَالَ : " لِيَتَّخِذْ أَحَدُكُمْ قَلْبًا شَاكِرًا ، وَلِسَانًا ذَاكِرًا ، وَزَوْجَةً تُعِينُهُ عَلَى أَمْرِ الْآخِرَةِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the blessed verse regarding gold and silver was revealed, people began to say, "What wealth should we keep with us?" Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "I will find out for you." So he quickly rode his camel and reached the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and I was also behind him. He submitted, "O Messenger of Allah! What wealth should we keep with us?" The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "A tongue that remembers (Allah), a grateful heart, and a believing wife who helps him in matters of the Hereafter."
Hadith 22438
حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عِيسَى ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي الْجَعْدِ ، عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنَّ الْعَبْدَ لَيُحْرَمُ الرِّزْقَ بِالذَّنْبِ يُصِيبُهُ ، وَلَا يَرُدُّ الْقَدَرَ إِلَّا الدُّعَاءُ ، وَلَا يَزِيدُ فِي الْعُمُرِ إِلَّا الْبِرُّ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Sometimes a person is deprived of sustenance because of a sin that he commits, and nothing can avert destiny except supplication, and nothing increases life except righteousness.
Hadith 22439
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ زَيْدٍ ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ ، عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي أَسْمَاءَ ، عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " عَائِدُ الْمَرِيضِ فِي مَخْرَفَةِ الْجَنَّةِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When a Muslim man visits his Muslim brother who is ill, he walks through the gardens of Paradise.
Hadith 22440
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ ، عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ ، قَالَ : وَذَكَرَ أَبَا أَسْمَاءَ ، وَذَكَرَ ثَوْبَانَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَيُّمَا امْرَأَةٍ سَأَلَتْ زَوْجَهَا الطَّلَاقَ فِي غَيْرِ مَا بَأْسٍ ، فَحَرَامٌ عَلَيْهَا رَائِحَةُ الْجَنَّةِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Any woman who asks her husband for divorce without a specific reason, the fragrance of Paradise will be forbidden for her.
