Yazid bin Hayyan Tamimi (may Allah have mercy on him) says that once I, along with Husain bin Sabrah and Umar bin Muslim, went to the service of Hazrat Zaid bin Arqam (may Allah be pleased with him). When we had sat down, Husain said, "O Zaid! You have attained great good. You have seen the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), heard his hadiths, participated in jihad with him, and prayed in his company. Therefore, you have been granted abundant goodness. Please narrate to us a hadith that you yourself heard from the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him)." He replied, "Nephew! I have grown old, my time has passed, and of the things I had preserved from the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), I have forgotten some. So, if I narrate a hadith to you according to my ability, then accept it, otherwise do not compel me." Then he said, "One day, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) stood up to deliver a sermon near a spring between Makkah Mukarramah and Madinah Munawwarah, which is called 'Khumm.' After praising and glorifying Allah, he gave some advice and admonition, then said, 'Amma ba'd (to proceed): O people! I am only a human being. It may be that soon the messenger of my Lord will come to call me, and I will respond to his call. Remember! I am leaving among you two weighty things. The first is the Book of Allah, in which there is guidance and light. So hold fast to the Book of Allah.' Then the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) encouraged and drew attention to acting upon the Book of Allah. And he said, 'The second thing is my Ahl al-Bayt.' And he said three times, 'I remind you by Allah regarding the rights of my Ahl al-Bayt.' Husain asked, 'O Zaid! Who are meant by the Ahl al-Bayt of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him)? Are the pure wives of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) not included among the Ahl al-Bayt?' He replied, 'The pure wives of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) are also among his Ahl al-Bayt, but here it means those people upon whom, after the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), charity is forbidden.' Husain asked, 'Who are those people?' He replied, 'The family of Aqil, the family of Ali, the family of Ja'far, and the family of Abbas.' Husain asked, 'Is charity forbidden for all of them?' He replied, 'Yes!'"

Yazid bin Hayan says that in the same gathering (which was mentioned in the previous hadith), Hazrat Zaid bin Arqam (may Allah be pleased with him) told us that once Ubaidullah bin Ziyad sent a message calling me. When I reached him, he said, "What are these ahadith that you keep narrating from the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) which we do not find in the Book of Allah? You state that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) will have a pond in Paradise?" He replied, "This is something that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) himself told us and promised us." He said, "You are lying. You have grown old, so your mind is not working properly." He replied, "I have heard this saying of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) with my own ears and preserved it in my heart: 'Whoever deliberately attributes a false statement to me, let him make his abode in Hell.' And I have never lied about the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him)." And in the same gathering, Hazrat Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him) also narrated this hadith before us: "In Hell, the body of a person of Hell will become very enlarged, to the extent that one of his molar teeth will be as large as Mount Uhud."

It is narrated from Hazrat Zaid bin Arqam (may Allah be pleased with him) that once a Jew cast a spell on the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), due to which the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) remained ill for several days. Then Hazrat Jibreel came and said that a Jewish man has cast a spell on you; he has tied some knots on something and placed it in such-and-such well. You should send someone to bring it from there. The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), who took out that thing. Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) brought it, and the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) opened it. As each knot was untied, the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) became healthier, as if he had been released from a rope. However, the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) neither mentioned that Jew nor saw his face until his passing.

It is narrated from Hazrat Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him) that I participated in a battle with the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). (The chief of the hypocrites) Abdullah bin Ubayy said, "If we return to Madinah, the more honorable will surely expel the more humble from there." I came to the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) and informed him of what he had said. Abdullah bin Ubayy swore that he had not said any such thing. My people began to blame me and said, "What was your purpose in this?" I returned from there, saddened, and lay down to sleep. Shortly after, the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) sent for me through a messenger. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Allah Almighty has revealed your excuse and proven your truthfulness," and this verse was revealed: "They say, 'Do not spend on those who are with the Messenger of Allah... If we return to Madinah, the more honorable will surely expel the more humble from there.'"
Hadith 19286
It is narrated from Hazrat Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Jinns frequent these toilets, so when any one of you enters the toilet, he should recite this supplication: 'O Allah! I seek refuge with You from male and female evil jinns.'" The previous hadith is also narrated through this second chain of transmission.

So thirty men stood up, that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) took the hand of Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) and said: "Do you not know that I have more right over the believers than their own selves?"
