Hadith 5999

Abdullah bin Qais bin Makhramah says that I was returning from Masjid Quba riding my mule, and I also had the opportunity to pray there. On the way, I met Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), who was coming on foot. When I saw him, I got down from my mule and said to him, "Uncle! Please ride on this." He replied, "Nephew! If I wanted to ride, I would have found rides, but I saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) going towards this mosque on foot, and he would also pray here. Therefore, just as I saw him going on foot, I also prefer to go on foot myself." Saying this, he refused to ride and continued on his way.
