It is narrated from Hazrat Asma (may Allah be pleased with her) that she heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saying during a sermon: O people! What compels you to fall into lying “like moths fall into the fire”? Every lie of the son of Adam is written against him, except in three cases: one is the man who lies to please his wife, the second is the man who lies in war, and the third is the man who lies to reconcile between two Muslims.
