Hadith 27221

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ ، عَنْ رِبْعِيٍّ ، عَنْ طَارِقِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْمُحَارِبِيِّ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِذَا صَلَّيْتَ , فَلَا تَبْصُقْ عَنْ يَمِينِكَ ، وَلَا بَيْنَ يَدَيْكَ ، وَابْصُقْ خَلْفَكَ ، وَعَنْ شِمَالِكَ إِنْ كَانَ فَارِغًا ، وَإِلَّا فَهَكَذَا " ، وَذَلِكَ تَحْتَ قَدَمِهِ ، وَلَمْ يَقُلْ وَكِيعٌ , وَلَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ : " وَابْصُقْ خَلْفَكَ " ، وَقَالَا : قَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ.
It is narrated from Hazrat Tariq bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When you pray, do not spit to your right or in front of you, but if there is space, spit behind you or to your left. Otherwise, do like this." Saying this, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) spat beneath his foot and rubbed it into the earth.
