It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that I saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) standing in the plain of Arafat. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had Sayyiduna Fadl (may Allah be pleased with him) riding behind him. A Bedouin came and stood near the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and his daughter was sitting behind him. Sayyiduna Fadl (may Allah be pleased with him) began to look at her, so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) understood and began to turn his face away. Then he said: "O people! Racing camels and horses is not an act of virtue, so you must adopt calmness." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) departed from there, and I did not see any mount raising its hands and running swiftly, until the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) reached Muzdalifah. When he stopped at Muzdalifah, he seated Sayyiduna Usama (may Allah be pleased with him) behind him, then said: "O people! Racing camels and horses is not an act of virtue, so proceed with calmness." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) departed from there, and I did not see any mount running swiftly, until he reached Mina. In Muzdalifah itself, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to the group of our weak ones from Banu Hashim, that is, women and children, who were riding on their donkeys, and while striking our thighs with his hand, he said: "Dear children! You may depart, but do not stone Jamrat al-Aqabah before sunrise."
