Ibn Abi Mulaika narrates that during the illness of death of Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) sought permission to enter. Her nephews were present with her. I said to her nephew that Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) is seeking permission to enter. Her nephew leaned in and asked Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), and she said, "Let it be (I do not have the strength)." He said, "Mother! Ibn Abbas is your very righteous son; he wants to greet you and bid you farewell." She granted permission. He came in and said, "Glad tidings to you! Only so much time remains between you and meeting your companions as it takes for the soul to depart from the body. Among all the pure wives of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), you were the most beloved, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) loved only that which was pure. On the night of Al-Abwa, your necklace broke and fell, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) camped there, but in the morning the Muslims had no water. Allah, through your blessing, revealed the command of tayammum with pure earth, in which Allah granted concession to this Ummah, and verses of the Noble Qur'an were revealed about you, which Jibreel (peace be upon him) brought from above the seven heavens. Now there is no mosque of the Muslims where your excuse is not recited day and night." Hearing this, she said, "O Ibn Abbas! Leave these praises of yours. By Allah! My wish is that I had become a forgotten tale."
