حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ سَلَمَةَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا ثَابِتٌ ، عَمَّنْ سَمِعَ حِطَّانَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الرَّقَاشِيَّ ، قَالَ : قَالَ أَبُو مُوسَى : قُلْتُ لِصَاحِبٍ لِي : تَعَالَ ، فَلْنَجْعَلْ يَوْمَنَا هَذَا لِلَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ ، فَلَكَأَنَّمَا شَهِدَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : " وَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ يَقُولُ : تَعَالَ ، فَلْنَجْعَلْ يَوْمَنَا هَذَا لِلَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ " ، فَمَا زَالَ يُرَدِّدُهَا ، حَتَّى تَمَنَّيْتُ أَنْ أَسِيخَ فِي الْأَرْضِ.
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) that once I said to one of my companions, "Come, let us devote this day to Allah." It seemed to me as if the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was present before us and saying, "There are some people who say, 'Come! Let us devote this day to Allah,'" and he repeated this statement so many times that I began to wish I would sink into the earth.
