حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ زَيْدٍ ، أَخْبَرَنَا أَيُّوبُ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سِيرِينَ ، عَنْ أَبِي عُبَيْدَةَ بْنِ حُذَيْفَةَ ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ ، قَالَ : يَعْنِي كُنْتُ أَسْأَلُ النَّاسَ عَنْ حَدِيثِ عَدِيِّ بْنِ حَاتِمٍ ، وَهُوَ إِلَى جَنْبِي لَا أَسْأَلُ عَنْهُ ، فَأَتَيْتُهُ ، فَسَأَلْتُهُ ، فَقَالَ : نَعَمْ ، بُعِثَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حِينَ بُعِثَ ، فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ . .
Yunus narrated to us, Hammad—meaning Ibn Zayd—narrated to us, Ayyub informed us, from Muhammad ibn Sirin, from Abu Ubaydah ibn Hudhayfah, from a man, who said: I used to ask people about the hadith of Adi ibn Hatim, while he was beside me and I did not ask him about it.
