Hadith 18235

It is narrated from Hazrat Mughirah bin Shu’bah (may Allah be pleased with him) that once I was with the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) on a journey. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked me, “Do you have water?” I replied, “Yes!” Then the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) dismounted from his ride and went away to relieve himself and disappeared from my sight; now I could not see the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). After a little while, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) returned, and I presented water to him and kept pouring it. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) first washed both hands thoroughly, then washed his face. After that, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) tried to roll up the sleeves of his garment, but the Syrian cloak that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was wearing had tight sleeves, so they could not be rolled up. Thus, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) took both hands out from underneath, and washed his face and hands, wiped over the portion of his head equal to the forehead, wiped over his turban, and wiped over his turban again. Then, when I reached out to remove his leather socks, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “Leave them; I put them on in a state of ablution.” Thus, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) wiped over them.
