Hadith 17356

حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ دَاوُدَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي الْخَيْرِ ، عَنْ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ عَامِرٍ ، قَالَ : جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : إِنَّ أُمِّي مَاتَتْ ، وَإِنِّي أُرِيدُ أَنْ أَتَصَدَّقَ عَنْهَا ، قَالَ : " أَمَرَتْكَ ؟ " قَالَ : لَا ، قَالَ : " فَلَا تَفْعَلْ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Uqbah bin Aamir (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man came to the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said, "My mother has passed away and I want to give some charity on her behalf." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked him, "Did she command you to do so?" He replied, "No." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Then do not do it."
