(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ ، عَنْ رَبِيعَةَ بْنِ يَزِيدَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ وَاثِلَةَ بْنَ الْأَسْقَعِ يَقُولُ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ : " إِنَّ أَعْظَمَ الْفِرَى ثَلَاثَةٌ : أَنْ يَفْتَرِيَ الرَّجُلُ عَلَى عَيْنَيْهِ يَقُولُ : رَأَيْتُ وَلَمْ يَرَ ، وَأَنْ يَفْتَرِيَ عَلَى وَالِدَيْهِ ، فَيُدْعَى إِلَى غَيْرِ أَبِيهِ ، أَوْ يَقُولُ : سَمِعَنِي ، وَلَمْ يَسْمَعْ مِنِّي " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Wathilah that I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: The greatest slanders are three: First, that a man slanders with his eyes and says, "I saw such and such," while he did not see it. Second, that a man slanders his parents and attributes himself to someone other than his father. And third, that a person says he heard something from me, while he did not hear it from me.
