(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا
يَعْقُوبُ ، قَالَ : قَالَ
أَبِي كَمَا حَدَّثَنِي
ابْنُ إِسْحَاقَ ، عَنْ
يَعْقُوبَ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ ، عَنْ
مُسْلِمِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ خُبَيْب الْجُهَنِيِّ ، عَنْ
جُنْدُبِ بْنِ مَكِيثٍ الْجُهَنِيِّ ، قَالَ : " بَعَثَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ غَالِبَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْكَلْبِيَّ كَلْبَ لَيْثٍ إِلَى بَنِي مُلَوَّحٍ بِالْكَدِيدِ ، وَأَمَرَهُ أَنْ يُغِيرَ عَلَيْهِمْ ، فَخَرَجَ ، فَكُنْتُ فِي سَرِيَّتِهِ ، فَمَضَيْنَا حَتَّى إِذَا كُنَّا بِقُدَيْدٍ لَقِينَا بِهِ الْحَارِثَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ وَهُوَ ابْنُ الْبَرْصَاءِ اللَّيْثِيُّ ، فَأَخَذْنَاهُ ، فَقَالَ : إِنَّمَا جِئْتُ لِأُسْلِمَ ، فَقَالَ غَالِبُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ : إِنْ كُنْتَ إِنَّمَا جِئْتَ مُسْلِمًا ، فَلَنْ يَضُرَّكَ رِبَاطُ يَوْمٍ وَلَيْلَةٍ ، وَإِنْ كُنْتَ عَلَى غَيْرِ ذَلِكَ ، اسْتَوْثَقْنَا مِنْكَ , قَالَ : فَأَوْثَقَهُ رِبَاطًا ، ثُمَّ خَلَّفَ عَلَيْهِ رَجُلًا أَسْوَدَ كَانَ مَعَنَا ، فَقَالَ : امْكُثْ مَعَهُ حَتَّى نَمُرَّ عَلَيْكَ ، فَإِنْ نَازَعَكَ ، فَاجْتَزَّ رَأْسَهُ . قَالَ : ثُمَّ مَضَيْنَا حَتَّى أَتَيْنَا بَطْنَ الْكَدِيدِ ، فَنَزَلْنَا عُشَيْشِيَةً بَعْدَ الْعَصْرِ ، فَبَعَثَنِي أَصْحَابِي فِي رَئِيَّةٍ ، فَعَمَدْتُ إِلَى تَلٍّ يُطْلِعُنِي عَلَى الْحَاضِرِ ، فَانْبَطَحْتُ عَلَيْهِ وَذَلِكَ الْمَغْرِبَ ، فَخَرَجَ رَجُلٌ مِنْهُمْ ، فَنَظَرَ ، فَرَآنِي مُنْبَطِحًا عَلَى التَّلِّ ، فَقَالَ لِامْرَأَتِهِ : وَاللَّهِ إِنِّي لَأَرَى عَلَى هَذَا التَّلِّ سَوَادًا مَا رَأَيْتُهُ أَوَّلَ النَّهَارِ ، فَانْظُرِي لَا تَكُونُ الْكِلَابُ اجْتَرَّتْ بَعْضَ أَوْعِيَتِكِ , قَالَ : فَنَظَرَتْ ، فَقَالَتْ : لَا وَاللَّهِ مَا أَفْقِدُ شَيْئًا , قَالَ : فَنَاوِلِينِي قَوْسِي وَسَهْمَيْنِ مِنْ كِنَانَتِي ، قَالَ : فَنَاوَلَتْهُ ، فَرَمَانِي بِسَهْمٍ فَوَضَعَهُ فِي جَنْبِي ، قَالَ : فَنَزَعْتُهُ فَوَضَعْتُهُ وَلَمْ أَتَحَرَّكْ ، ثُمَّ رَمَانِي بِآخَرَ ، فَوَضَعَهُ فِي رَأْسِ مَنْكِبِي ، فَنَزَعْتُهُ ، فَوَضَعْتُهُ وَلَمْ أَتَحَرَّكْ , فَقَالَ لِامْرَأَتِهِ : وَاللَّهِ لَقَدْ خَالَطَهُ سَهْمَايَ ، وَلَوْ كَانَ زَائِلَةً لَتَحَرَّكَ ، فَإِذَا أَصْبَحْتِ فَابْتَغِي سَهْمَيَّ ، فَخُذِيهِمَا ، لَا تَمْضُغُهُمَا عَلَيَّ الْكِلَابُ . قَالَ : وَأَمْهَلْنَاهُمْ حَتَّى رَاحَتْ رَائِحَتُهُمْ ، حَتَّى إِذَا احْتَلَبُوا وَعَطَنُوا أَوْ سَكَنُوا ، وَذَهَبَتْ عَتَمَةٌ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ ، شَنَنَّا عَلَيْهِمْ الْغَارَةَ ، فَقَتَلْنَا مَنْ قَتَلْنَا مِنْهُمْ ، وَاسْتَقْنَا النَّعَمَ ، فَتَوَجَّهْنَا قَافِلِينَ , وَخَرَجَ صَرِيخُ الْقَوْمِ إِلَى قَوْمِهِمْ مُغَوِّثًا ، وَخَرَجْنَا سِرَاعًا ، حَتَّى نَمُرَّ بِالْحَارِثِ ابْنِ الْبَرْصَاءِ وَصَاحِبِهِ ، فَانْطَلَقْنَا بِهِ مَعَنَا ، وَأَتَانَا صَرِيخُ النَّاسِ ، فَجَاءَنَا مَا لَا قِبَلَ لَنَا بِهِ ، حَتَّى إِذَا لَمْ يَكُنْ بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَهُمْ إِلَّا بَطْنُ الْوَادِي ، أَقْبَلَ سَيْلٌ حَالَ بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَهُمْ ، بَعَثَهُ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى مِنْ حَيْثُ شَاءَ ، مَا رَأَيْنَا قَبْلَ ذَلِكَ مَطَرًا وَلَا حَالًا ، فَجَاءَ بِمَا لَا يَقْدِرُ أَحَدٌ أَنْ يَقُومَ عَلَيْهِ ، فَلَقَدْ رَأَيْنَاهُمْ وُقُوفًا يَنْظُرُونَ إِلَيْنَا مَا يَقْدِرُ أَحَدٌ مِنْهُمْ أَنْ يَتَقَدَّمَ ، وَنَحْنُ نُحَوِّزُهَا سِرَاعًا حَتَّى أَسْنَدْنَاهَا فِي الْمَشْلَلِ ، ثُمَّ حَدَرْنَاهَا عَنَّا ، فَأَعْجَزْنَا الْقَوْمَ بِمَا فِي أَيْدِينَا " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jundub bin Makith that once the Prophet (ﷺ) sent Ghalib bin Abdullah al-Kalbi to the Banu Muluh who lived at the place of Qudayd, and ordered him to launch a night attack on them. He set out, and I was also part of that expedition. We kept moving, and when we reached the place of Qudayd, we encountered Harith bin Malik. We captured him. He said, "I am coming to accept Islam." Sayyiduna Ghalib said, "If you are truly coming to accept Islam, then one day of captivity will not harm you in any way. And if you are coming with any other intention, then we have bound you." Saying this, he tied up Harith and appointed an Abyssinian who was with us as his guard, leaving him behind and instructing him, "Stay here until we return. If he tries to resist you during this time, then behead him."
After that, we set out and, upon reaching Batn Qudayd, camped at the place of 'Ashaisha after the Asr prayer. My companions sent me to a high place. I climbed a hill so that I could keep an eye on anyone coming or going. I climbed it at the time of Maghrib. An enemy man came out and saw me standing on the hill. He said to his wife, "I see a human shadow on this hill that I did not see earlier in the day. See if the dogs have dragged your utensils outside." She checked and said, "By Allah, I do not feel anything is missing." He said, "Then bring me my bow and two arrows from my quiver." She brought him these things, and he aimed and shot an arrow at me, which struck my side. I pulled it out and threw it aside, and did not move. He shot a second arrow at me, which struck the base of my shoulder. I pulled it out and threw it aside, and did not move. Seeing this, he said to his wife, "Both my arrows have hit him. If it were a living thing, it would have moved. So in the morning, look for my arrows and bring them back, lest the dogs use them against me."
We gave those people respite in this way until the night began to settle. When they had milked their animals, tied up their camels, and started to rest, and part of the night had passed, we launched a night attack on them. Some people were killed at our hands, and after that, we drove away their animals and set out to return. Meanwhile, their crier began to shout, calling people for help. We moved quickly until we reached Harith bin Malik and his companion and took them along with us. Meanwhile, we began to hear the sounds of people shouting with great enthusiasm. When only the valley of Bathan separated us from them, suddenly it began to rain, which came between us and them, and which Allah sent for us. We had never seen such rain before, nor has it rained so much since. No one could stand before it. We saw them standing and watching us, but no one had the courage to advance, while we quickly gathered our things and kept moving forward until we reached a place called Mushallal, descended from there, and rendered the enemy unable to recover the animals in our possession.
