Hadith 14228

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، عَنْ فِطْرٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَغْلِقُوا أَبْوَابَكُمْ ، وَخَمِّرُوا آنِيَتَكُمْ ، وَأَطْفِئُوا سُرُجَكُمْ ، وَأَوْكُوا أَسْقِيَتَكُمْ ، فَإِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ لَا يَفْتَحُ بَابًا مُغْلَقًا ، وَلَا يَكْشِفُ غِطَاءً ، وَلَا يَحُلُّ وِكَاءً ، وَإِنَّ الْفُوَيْسِقَةَ تُضْرِمُ الْبَيْتَ عَلَى أَهْلِهِ " يَعْنِي : الْفَأْرَةَ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "At night when you go to sleep, close the doors, cover the vessels, extinguish the lamps, and tie the mouths of the water-skins, because Satan cannot open a closed door, cannot remove a cover, and cannot untie a knot. And sometimes a mouse becomes the cause of burning down the whole house."
