(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ ثَابِتًا يُحَدِّثُ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، قَالَ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " أَشْجَعَ النَّاسِ ، وَأَحْسَنَ النَّاسِ ، وَأَجْوَدَ النَّاسِ " ، قَالَ : فَزِعَ أَهْلُ الْمَدِينَةِ لَيْلَةً ، قَالَ : فَانْطَلَقَ النَّاسُ قِبَلَ الصَّوْتِ ، فَتَلَقَّاهُمْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَقَدْ سَبَقَهُمْ ، وَهُوَ يَقُولُ : " لَمْ تُرَاعُوا " ، قَالَ : وَهُوَ عَلَى فَرَسٍ لِأَبِي طَلْحَةَ عُرْيٍ ، فِي عُنُقِهِ السَّيْفُ ، فَجَعَلَ يَقُولُ لِلنَّاسِ : " لَمْ تُرَاعُوا " ، قَالَ : وَقَالَ : إِنَّا وَجَدْنَاهُ بَحْرًا ، أَوْ : إِنَّهُ لَبَحْرٌ ، يَعْنِي الْفَرَسَ .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was the most beautiful, generous, and courageous of all people. Once, the people of Madinah were frightened at night due to fear of an enemy and set out towards the source of the sound. They saw that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was returning, riding on the unsaddled horse of Hazrat Abu Talha (may Allah be pleased with him), with a sword hanging around his neck, and he was telling the people that there is nothing to worry about, do not be afraid. Regarding the horse, he said, "We found it as swift as the sea."
