Janaab Ja'far narrated from his father Muhammad, he said: Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) asked Abdur Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) about the Magians (Zoroastrians) (regarding how they should be treated). He replied: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Deal with them as you deal with the People of the Book."
Janaab Ja'far narrates from his father Muhammad that Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) mentioned the Magians and said: I do not know what to do with them? Abdur Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) said to him: I bear witness that I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Treat them in the same way as you treat the People of the Book."
Jafar narrates from his father Muhammad, he said: Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) was sitting in the place between the pulpit and the sacred grave and was saying: I do not know what to do with the Magians? Abdur Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Adopt the same method with them as you adopt with the People of the Book."
Bajalah heard Abu Sha’tha and Amr bin Aws Thaqafi narrate, and this is the incident of the year when Mus’ab bin Umair (may Allah be pleased with him) performed Hajj with the people of Basra, that is, in the year seventy Hijri, while he was sitting on the steps of Zamzam. They say: In those days, I was the scribe of Juza’ bin Mu’awiyah, the uncle of Ahnaf bin Qais. So, a year before the death of Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), his letter arrived, stating: Kill every sorcerer and soothsayer, and separate any Magian who has married his mahram woman, and prevent them from Zamzam. They say: We killed three sorcerers, and we separated every Magian man from his mahram wife according to the Book of Allah. And Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) did not take jizya from the Magians, but when Abdur Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) testified that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) had taken jizya from the Persians of Hajar, (then he also began to take it).

Ibrahim bin Abdullah bin Qariz narrated that he came to visit Abdur Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) when he was ill. At that time, Abdur Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) said to him: May the act of maintaining ties of kinship join you. I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, said: I am 'Rahman' (the Most Merciful) and 'rahm' (the womb/ties of kinship) is from Me; I have derived its name from My Name. Whoever joins it, I will join him, and whoever cuts it off, I will cut him off."
Abdullah bin Qariz narrates that he went to visit Sayyiduna Abdur Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) during his illness. Sayyiduna Abdur Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) said to him: "May the bond of kinship unite you." I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, said: I am 'Ar-Rahman' (the Most Merciful) and I have derived 'rahm' (the womb/ties of kinship) from My Name. Whoever joins it, I will join him, and whoever severs it, I will sever him." Or (he used these words) «مَنبَتَّهَاأَبَتُّهُ»

Sayyiduna Abdur Rahman bin Awf al-Qurashi رضي الله عنه narrates from the Noble Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم, he صلى الله عليه وسلم said: "Three things will be under the Throne on the Day of Resurrection: (one) the Qur'an and (second) the bond of kinship will call out. Beware! Whoever joins me, Allah will join him, and whoever cuts me off, Allah will cut him off."
Abu Abdur Rahman narrates that he was sitting with Sayyiduna Abdur Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him), when suddenly Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) passed by. He called Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) and inquired about the ablution of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). He said: When the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would go to relieve himself, he would call me, and I would bring water to him. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would wipe over his turban and his leather socks.

A storyteller from Palestine narrated, he said that I heard Sayyiduna Abdur Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) say that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "By Him in whose hand is the life of Muhammad! I swear and say: Wealth does not decrease by giving charity, so give charity. If a person forgives in response to oppression, Allah Almighty will raise him in honor on the Day of Resurrection, provided that the pleasure of Allah Almighty is sought. And if a person begins to beg, Allah Almighty opens the door of poverty upon him."

An old man named Ghailan from the people of Taif narrated from Sayyiduna Abdur Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him), who said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Let not the Bedouins overpower you regarding the name of your prayer; in the Book of Allah, it is the 'Isha prayer. Its name is 'al-Atamah' because the camels are milked late at night at the time of 'Isha due to the lateness of milking."

Shaqiq narrated, he said: There occurred some discord between Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) and Sayyiduna Abdur Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with them both), so Abdur Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) sent a message to him: By Allah! I did not flee and leave the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) alone on the day of Hunayn, nor did I stay behind at Badr, nor did I oppose the Sunnah of Amir Umar (may Allah be pleased with him). (The narrator) said: So Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) sent a message to him: Your saying that I fled on the day of Hunayn, indeed you have spoken the truth, but (Allah Almighty) has forgiven me, and as for the matter of the Sunnah of Amir Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), by Allah! Neither you have the strength for it nor do I.

It is narrated from Sayyida Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) that Abdur Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) came to her and said: O mother! My abundance of wealth has destroyed me. I possess the most wealth among the people of Quraysh. Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: O son! Give charity. I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "There will be one among my companions who, after meeting me and parting from me, will never see me again." (The narrator) said: So Abdur Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) went out and met Sayyidina Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) and informed him of what Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) had said. So Sayyidina Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) came to Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) and said: By Allah! Is it me? She replied: No! And I will never tell this hadith to anyone after you.

A trustworthy narrator reported that Sayyiduna Abdur Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) went to visit a sick person among the companions of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). (The narrator reported) He said: I mention a certain statement. He said: Do not say it like that, rather say it as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to say supplicatory words when visiting a sick person: «اَللّٰهُمَّاَذْهِبْعَنْهُمَايَجِدُوَآجِرْهُفِيْمَاابْتَلَيْتَهُ» "O Allah! Remove from him what (illness) he has and grant him deliverance from the trial in which You have placed him."

A man narrated, he said that Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) used to tell stories. Abdur Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) said to him: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Stories may be told by a leader, or by one who is commanded, or by one who is boastful and arrogant." (The narrator) said: May your mother lose you, Abdur Rahman bin Awf is saying such and such. So he abandoned the act of storytelling. Then Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) ordered him to tell stories, so for this reason he considered storytelling to be permissible.

Ka'b al-Ahbar used to narrate stories. Abdur Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Stories are either narrated by one who is commanded to do so, or by one who does it for show." He (i.e., the narrator) said: Ka'b came and it was said to him, "May your mother lose you, Abdur Rahman bin Awf is saying such and such." After that, he abandoned the act of narrating stories. Then Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) commanded him, so due to this he considered (narrating stories) permissible.

Zuhri narrated, he said: Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) set out towards Syria. When he reached the place of Sargh, people welcomed him and the land had been afflicted by an epidemic. People indicated to him to return. At that time, Sayyiduna Abdur Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) was not present. Then he arrived and said: I will narrate to you a hadith. Then he narrated the hadith in the manner of Usama, so Amir Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) returned.
It is narrated from Sha'bi that four men lowered the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) into the blessed grave, and the last of them was Abdur Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him).
