Hadith 215

عَنْ أُسَامَةَ بْنِ زَيْدٍ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ شُعَيْبٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو، أَنَّ رَجُلا وَهَبَ هِبَةً فَرَجَعَ فِيهَا، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " هَذَا مِثْلُ الْكَلْبِ الَّذِي يَأْكُلُ حَتَّى إِذَا شَبِعَ قَاءَ مَا فِي بَطْنِهِ، ثُمَّ رَجَعَ إِلَيْهِ فَأَكَلَهُ "، وَقَالَ عَمْرُو بْنُ شُعَيْبٍ : حَضَرْتُ عُمَرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ قَالَ ذَلِكَ فِي خِلافَتِهِ لِرَجُلٍ .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrated that indeed a man gave a gift, then took it back, so the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "This is like the example of a dog, which eats until when it is full, it vomits what is in its belly, then turns towards it and eats it." And Amr bin Shu'aib (may Allah have mercy on him) said that I was present with Umar bin Abdul Aziz (may Allah have mercy on him), and he narrated this hadith for a man during his caliphate.
