Hadith 699

وحَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاق بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ شُمَيْلٍ ، أَخْبَرَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْحَمِيدِ صَاحِبُ الزِّيَادِيِّ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ الْحَارِثِ ، قَالَ : أَذَّنَ مُؤَذِّنُ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، يَوْمَ جُمُعَةٍ فِي يَوْمٍ مَطِيرٍ ، فَذَكَرَ نَحْوَ حَدِيثِ ابْنِ عُلَيَّةَ ، وَقَالَ : وَكَرِهْتُ أَنْ تَمْشُوا فِي الدَّحْضِ وَالزَّلَلِ .
'Abdullah bin Harith reported that the Mu'adhdhin of Ibn 'Abba said Adhan on Friday (and then made the announcement to say prayer in houses) because it was a rainy day; as it has been narrated by Ma'mar and others, and in this hadith it was mentioned: He who did it, i. e. the Apostle of Allah (ﷺ) , was better than I.
