'Abdul Rahman bin Abi al-Sha'tha' reported: I came to Ibrahim al-Nakha' and Ibrahim Taimi and said: I intend to combine 'Umrah and Hajj this year, whereupon Ibrahim al-Nakha'i said: But your father did not make such intention. Ibrahim narrated on the authority of his father that he passed by Abu Dharr (RA) at Rabdha, and made a mention of that, whereupon he said: It was a special concession for us and not for you.
´It was narrated that Abu Dharr said:` “Tamattu’ in Hajj was for the Companions of Muhammad (ﷺ) specifically.”
Maulana Ataullah Sajid
Benefits and Issues: This is the opinion of Abu Dharr radi Allahu anhu, which is not correct because in Hadith: 2980, the statement of the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam has already been mentioned that this ruling is for all time. It is possible that Abu Dharr radi Allahu anhu did not hear this statement from the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, nor did he hear it from any Companion. Or, if he did hear it from a Companion, it is possible that for some reason he was not satisfied with it. And Allah knows best.

Sayyiduna Abu Dharr Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The command to break (convert) Hajj (into Hajj Tamattu‘) from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was specific for us.
Shaykh Muhammad Ibrahim bin Basheer
Benefit: In this hadith, the mention is of the Hajj that was converted into ‘Umrah. One of the reasons for this is that performing ‘Umrah during the months of Hajj was considered disliked (makruh). In order to refute this incorrect notion, the Noble Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) acted in this manner. For details, see (Awn al-Ma‘bud: 10/209).
