Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

It is narrated from Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) made an agreement with the people of Khaybar for a share of the produce or fruit that would come forth.

It is narrated from Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) appointed the people of Khaybar as workers on a share of the produce.

It is narrated from Hazrat Urwah bin Zubair that Hazrat Zaid bin Thabit said: May Allah forgive Rafi' bin Khadij. Two men who had fought each other came to him, so the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: If this is your situation, then do not give land to the cultivator on rent.

It is narrated from Hazrat Musa bin Talha that I saw both my neighbors (Abdullah and Sa'd) giving their land for (sharecropping) on a third and a quarter share.

Hazrat Tawoos narrates that Hazrat Mu'adh came to us and we used to give our lands on one-third and one-half share (for sharecropping). Hazrat Mu'adh did not find any fault in this.

It is narrated from Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that there is no harm in sharecropping for half the produce. And it is mentioned regarding (Imam) Abu Hanifa's opinion that: he considered it disliked (makruh).
