Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that we set out with the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) for the Farewell Pilgrimage at the sighting of the crescent of Dhul-Hijjah. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever among you wishes to recite the Talbiyah for Umrah may do so. For if I had not brought the sacrificial animal with me, I too would have recited the Talbiyah for Umrah. Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) says that some people from the group recited the Talbiyah for Umrah and some for Hajj. She says, I was among those who recited the Talbiyah for Umrah. She says that we continued until we reached Makkah. The day of Arafah came upon me while I was menstruating and had not yet become halal from my Umrah. I complained about this to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Leave your Umrah, untie your hair, comb it, and recite the Talbiyah for Hajj. Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) says that I did this. Then, when the night after the days of Tashreeq came and Allah had completed our Hajj, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent Abdur Rahman bin Abi Bakr with me. He took me with him and set out towards Tan'eem. Then I recited the Talbiyah for Umrah. Thus Allah completed our Hajj and Umrah. There was no sacrifice, charity, or fasting in it.

Hazrat Ibn Abi Najih narrates regarding Mujahid and Ata that I asked both of them about the woman who comes to Makkah for Umrah and becomes menstruating, and she fears missing Hajj. So both of them said: This woman will recite the Talbiyah for Hajj and complete it. And (Imam) Abu Hanifa's opinion is mentioned that: The woman will leave Hajj and a sacrifice (dam) will become obligatory upon her, and she will have to perform another Umrah in place of the previous one.
