Washing the Hand before Putting it into a Vessel
Hadith 38996
٣٨٩٩٦ - حدثنا ابن علية عن هشام عن ابن سيرين عن أبي هريرة عن النبي ﷺ قال: "طهور إناء أحدكم إذا ولغ فيه الكلب أن يغسله سبع مرات أولاهن بالتراب" (١).
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira that the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: The way to purify the utensil of any one of you, when a dog puts its mouth in it, is to wash that utensil seven times and to scrub it with earth the first time.
Hadith 38997
٣٨٩٩٧ - حدثنا أبو أسامة عن الأعمش عن أبي رزين عن أبي هريرة قال: سمعت رسول اللَّه ﷺ يقول: "إذا ولغ الكلب في إناء أحدكم فليغسله سبع مرات" (١).
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira that I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say: When a dog puts its mouth into the vessel of any one of you, it should be washed seven times.
Hadith 38998
٣٨٩٩٨ - حدثنا شبابة بن سوار عن شعبة عن أبي التياح قال: سمعت مطرفا يحدث عن ابن المغفل أن رسول اللَّه ﷺ أمر بقتل الكلاب، وقال: "إذا ولغ الكلب في الإناء فاغسلوه سبع مرات، وعفروه الثامنة بالتراب" (١).
Hazrat Ibn Mughaffal narrates that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, ordered the killing of dogs and said: When a dog licks a utensil, wash it seven times and scrub it with earth the eighth time. And (Imam) Abu Hanifa's opinion has been mentioned that: Washing the utensil once will suffice.
