Threshold for Cutting the Hand in Theft
Hadith 38992
٣٨٩٩٢ - حدثنا أبو معاوية عن الأعمش عن أبي رزين عن أبي هريرة قال: قال النبي ﷺ: "إذا قام أحدكم من الليل فلا يغمس يده في الإناء حتى يغسلها ثلاث مرات، فإنه لا يدري أين باتت يده" (١).
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira that the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: When any one of you gets up at night, he should not put his hand into the vessel before washing it three times. Because he does not know where his hand spent the night.
Hadith 38993
٣٨٩٩٣ - حدثنا عبد الرحيم بن سليمان عن محمد بن عمرو عن أبي سلمة عن أبي هريرة قال: قال رسول اللَّه ﷺ: "إذا قام أحدكم من نومه فليفرغ على يده من إنائه ثلاث مرات، فإنه لا يدري أين باتت يده" (١).
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: When any one of you wakes up from sleep, he should pour water over his hand three times before putting it into the vessel, for he does not know where his hand spent the night.
Hadith 38994
٣٨٩٩٤ - حدثنا أبو خالد الأحمر عن هشام عن محمد بن سيرين عن أبي هريرة قال: قال رسول اللَّه ﷺ: "إذا قام أحدكم من الليل فلا يغمس يده في الإناء حتى يغسلها" (١).
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: When any one of you gets up at night, he should not put his hand into the vessel until he has washed it.
Hadith 38995
٣٨٩٩٥ - حدثنا جرير عن منصور عن إبراهيم قال: إذا استيقظ الرجل من نومه فلا يدخل يده في الإناء حتى يغسلها.
It is narrated from Ibrahim that when a person wakes up from his sleep, he should not put his hand into the vessel until he washes it. And (Imam) Abu Hanifa's opinion is mentioned that: there is no harm in it.
