Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that I was presented to the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) on the day of Uhud. At that time, I was fourteen years old. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) considered me too young, and I was presented to him again on the day of Khandaq. At that time, I was fifteen years old. So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) granted me permission. Hazrat Nafi' says that I narrated this hadith to Umar bin Abdul Aziz. The narrator says: He said, "This is the limit between minor and major." The narrator says that he wrote to his governors to count those who are fifteen years old among the fighters and those who are fourteen years old among the children. And (Imam) Abu Hanifa's opinion has been mentioned that nothing is obligatory upon a girl until she reaches eighteen or seventeen years of age.
