Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Asma bint Abi Bakr narrates that during the blessed time of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), we slaughtered a horse and ate its meat. Or (she said), we were given its meat.

It is narrated from Hazrat Jabir that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) made us eat the meat of horses (i.e., permitted us to eat it) and forbade us from the meat of donkeys.

It is narrated from Hazrat Jabir that on the day of Khaybar, we ate the meat of horses. And (Imam) Abu Hanifa's opinion has been mentioned that: the meat of horses should not be eaten.
