It is narrated from Hazrat Zuhri that he heard Sahl bin Sa’d say that he was present at the incident of a husband and wife who performed li’an during the time of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and later they were separated. Hadith 38886
It is narrated from Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) separated two people who had invoked li'an (mutual cursing), so the husband said: O Messenger of Allah! What about my wealth? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Your wealth is not yours. (Because) if you are truthful, then for what did you deem her private parts lawful? (It is evident that lawfulness was established in exchange for wealth.) And if you are lying, then by a greater measure you will not get the wealth. And (Imam) Abu Hanifa's opinion is mentioned that: If the husband denies his own statement, he can marry the woman.
