Unintentional Addition of a Fifth Rak'ah
Hadith 38856
٣٨٨٥٦ - حدثنا ابن عيينة عن عمرو سمع جابرا يقول: سمعت ابن عباس يقول: سمعت النبي ﷺ يقول: "إذا لم يجد المحرم إزارا فليلبس سراويل، وإذا لم ⦗٢٢٣⦘ يجد نعلين فليلبس خفين" (١).
Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with both of them) says that I heard the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: When a Muhrim does not find an izar (waist-wrapper), he should wear trousers, and when a Muhrim does not find shoes, he should wear socks.
Hadith 38857
٣٨٨٥٧ - حدثنا الفضل بن دكين عن زهير عن أبي الزبير عن جابر قال: قال رسول اللَّه ﷺ: "من لم يجد نعلين فليلبس خفين، ومن لم يجد ازارا فليلبس سراويل (١) " (٢).
It is narrated from Hazrat Jabir that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Whoever does not find shoes should wear socks, and whoever does not find a lungi should wear trousers.
Hadith 38858
٣٨٨٥٨ - حدثنا ابن علية عن أيوب عن نافع عن ابن عمر قال: قال رجل: يا رسول اللَّه ﷺ ما يلبس المحرم أو ما يترك المحرم؟ قال: "لا يلبس القميص ولا السراويل ولا العمامة ولا الخفين إلا أن لا يجد نعلين (١) فليلبسهما أسفل من الكعبين" (٢).
It is narrated from Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that a man asked: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), what should a Muhrim wear? Or he asked: what should a Muhrim leave off? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: A Muhrim should not wear a shirt, trousers, turban, or socks. However, if shoes are not available, then whoever cannot find shoes may wear socks after cutting them below the ankles. And (Imam) Abu Hanifa's opinion has been mentioned that: he should not do so. If he does so, then a Muhrim will be liable to offer a sacrifice (dam).
