Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

It is narrated from Hazrat Bilal that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) wiped over the socks and the turban.

The freed slave of Zaid bin Suhan, Hazrat Abi Muslim, narrates that I was with Hazrat Salman when he saw a man who was taking off his leather socks to perform ablution. Hazrat Salman said to this man: Wipe over your leather socks, and wipe over your head covering (such as a turban), and wipe over your forehead, because I have seen the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) wiping over his leather socks and his head covering (such as a turban).

Hazrat Ibn Mughirah bin Shu'bah narrates from his father that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) wiped over the front part of his head and over his socks, and he placed his hand on the turban and wiped over the turban. And (Imam) Abu Hanifah's opinion has been mentioned that: wiping over the forehead and the turban is not correct.
