Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

It is narrated from Hasan that he says that Hazrat Safwan bin Muhriz used to say: When I eat bread, (my purpose is) that I may straighten my back with it, and I drink a jug of water. Destruction is destined for the world and the people of the world.

Hazrat Ghailan bin Jarir narrates about Hazrat Safwan bin Muhriz. He says that Hazrat Safwan and his brother would gather together and converse with each other. But they would not see any signs of tenderness. The narrator says: Then people would say, "O Safwan! Please speak to your companions." The narrator says: Hazrat Safwan would say, "All praise is due to Allah." Upon this, the people would be overcome with tenderness and their tears would flow as if they were the mouths of water skins.

It is narrated about Hazrat Safwan bin Muhriz that whenever he recited this verse, he would weep until his chest would soften. "And soon the wrongdoers will know upon which path they were walking."

It is narrated from Hazrat Thabit that Hazrat Safwan bin Muhriz had a room made of cane in which there was a beam. Then the beam broke, so it was said to him, "Why don't you fix it?" He replied, "Leave it as it is, for I too am to die tomorrow."

Hazrat Safwan bin Muhriz narrates regarding the Divine Command: {إنَّا أَنْشَأْنَاہُنَّ إنْشَائً فَجَعَلْنَاہُنَّ أَبْکَارًا عُرُبًا أَتْرَابًا }. He says: By Allah! Some of them will be old women. Allah Almighty will make them as you have heard.

Hazrat Mu'alla (may Allah be pleased with him) bin Ziyad says that Hazrat Safwan bin Muharriz had a basement. In which he used to weep. And he used to say, "If the soul desires, I can see the place of martyrdom."
