Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

It is narrated from Abu Hayyan that he says: I heard Ibrahim say, "Whenever I compared my words to my actions, I feared that I might be found a liar."

It is narrated from Hazrat Salim bin Abi Hafsah that he says: I heard Ibrahim Taimi saying: O Allah! We are weak. Because of the weakness upon which You have created us, and because of the weakness to which we must return, whatever You will happens, not what we will. So will for us that we remain steadfast.

Hazrat Husain narrates about Ibrahim Taimi, he says that among his sayings was this: What greater regret can a man have than that his slave, whom Allah made his slave in this world, attains a higher rank with Allah on the Day of Judgment? What greater regret can a man have than that Allah gave him wealth in this world, and he made someone else the heir of that wealth, then that heir obeys Allah with that wealth? Thus, the sin of the wealth is upon the owner, and its reward is for another? And what greater regret can a man have than to see a servant who was blind in this world, that Allah opened his sight and this one became blind? Then he (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The people before you used to flee from the world while the world turned towards them. And whatever status they attained, they attained it. But you people pursue the world while the world has turned away from you, and the punishment that is to befall you will befall you. So compare your situation with theirs.

It is narrated from Ibrahim Taimi regarding the verse of the Holy Qur'an { وَیَأْتِیہِ الْمَوْتُ مِنْ کُلِّ مَکَان } that death will come even from the tips of the hair.

It is narrated from Ibrahim Taimi regarding {إنَّا ہُدْنَا إلَیْک }: "Tubna," meaning we turned back (in repentance).

Ibrahim Taimi narrates from his father, who says that he used to wear such a sheet that would reach from the back to the buttocks and from the front to the chest. Ibrahim says, I said: O my father! If you would take a larger sheet than this! He replied: O my son! Do not say such a thing. By Allah! Whatever pure morsel I eat on this earth, I wish that it would also go into the mouth of the person I dislike the most.

Ibrahim Taimi narrates from his father, who says that his father went to Basra and bought a slave for four thousand. Then he sold him with a profit of four thousand. I said to him, "Father! If you go to Basra and trade in slaves, you will make a good profit." He said, "Do not say such a thing to me. By Allah, I did not feel any happiness in gaining this profit, nor did any desire arise in my heart to gain such profit again."

It is narrated from Hazrat Yazid bin Shajrah that he says: Whenever a deceased person dies, those who used to sit with him appear before him. If they were people of amusement, then people of amusement; and if they were people of remembrance, then people of remembrance.

It is narrated from Hazrat Ibn Shajrah, he says that the grave says to a disbelieving man or a sinful man: "Do you not remember my darkness? Do you not remember my loneliness? Do you not remember my narrowness? Do you not remember my grief?"

It is narrated about Hazrat Yazid bin Shajrah that he used to narrate stories, and his actions confirmed his words.

It is narrated from Hazrat Kardus that he said: You used to tell us incidents in the morning and evening and would say: Surely, Paradise cannot be attained without the deeds of Paradise. Combine desire with fear. Be constant in good deeds. And fear Allah Almighty along with sound hearts and righteous deeds. And you used to say frequently: Whoever fears sets out early in the darkness.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Dahqan that he said: A young man was walking with Hazrat Ahnaf, so he said to him: O nephew! When the truth becomes clear to you, then intend for it and become heedless of everything else besides it.
