Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Salamah that the companions of the Noble Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) were neither miserly nor weak in performing acts of worship. In their gatherings, they would recite poetry and recall matters from the days of ignorance. But when any of them was intended for something concerning their religion, his eyelids would turn as if he were insane.

Hazrat Abu Salamah narrates that the night before the Day of Resurrection will be as long as three nights. Thus, those who fear Allah will get up and pray until, when they finish their prayer, they will go back and sleep. Until their sides become tired, then they will get up and pray again until, when they finish their prayer, they will begin to wait for the sun to rise from its place of rising. But then, suddenly, the sun will rise from the west.
