Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Abdullah narrates that a dweller of Paradise will be sitting with his wife when a cup will be brought to him. He will drink from it, then turn towards his wife, and he will say, "Your beauty has increased seventy times in my eyes."

It is narrated from Hazrat Zaid bin Arqam (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: A person of Paradise will be given the strength of a hundred men for eating, drinking, intercourse, and desire. A Jewish man asked, "The one who eats and drinks, will he not need to relieve himself?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The need of each of you will be fulfilled in such a way that he will sweat, and because of this sweat, his stomach will become empty.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Allah Almighty has said: I have prepared for My righteous servants such blessings as no eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no heart has ever imagined. Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) further said: Rather, Allah Almighty has already informed you about this; if you wish, read in the Qur'an { فَلاَ تَعْلَمُ نَفْسٌ مَا أُخْفِیَ لَہُمْ مِنْ قُرَّۃِ أَعْیُنٍ }. Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) used to recite it as "Qurrata A'yunin."

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The first group of my Ummah to enter Paradise will be like the full moon of the fourteenth night, then those who enter after them will be like the brightest stars in the sky, then there will be ranks after them. They will neither relieve themselves nor urinate, nor will they blow their noses, nor will they spit. Their combs will be of gold and their incense will be of Indian aloes-wood. Their sweat will be musk. Their character will be like that of one person. Their stature will be sixty cubits tall, like their father Adam.

It is narrated from Hazrat Ibn Umair that the Noble Prophet (peace be upon him) said: The rank of the lowest person in Paradise will be such that he will have a house made of pearl in Paradise, which will have windows and doors.

Hazrat Ka'b states that the lowest-ranking person in Paradise will have such a status on the Day of Resurrection that seventy thousand plates will be brought to him in the morning, each plate having a different color from the others, and he will find the same pleasure in the next as he found in the previous one, and there will be no baseness in it.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The rank of the lowest person in Paradise will be that whatever he wishes from Allah, it will be said to him, "This is also for you, and the like of it as well." He will be further encouraged that, "This is also for you, and the like of it as well." Hazrat Abu Saeed Al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "This is also for you, and ten times the like of it as well."

Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) states that the lowest-ranking person in Paradise will have this status: he will look at his domain in Paradise and for two thousand years he will gaze upon its end just as he sees its nearest part. And the highest-ranking person in Paradise will have this status: he will behold Allah twice every day.

It is also narrated in a similar manner from Hazrat Kathir bin Murrah Al-Hadrami.

Hazrat Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrated: A dweller of Paradise will be brought, and the houris will look at him and say, "O so-and-so, son of so-and-so!" He will ask, "Who are you?" The houris will say, "We are among those blessings about which Allah has said: { فَلاَ تَعْلَمُ نَفْسٌ مَا أُخْفِیَ لَہُمْ مِنْ قُرَّۃِ أَعْیُنٍ ، جَزَائً بِمَا کَانُوا یَعْمَلُونَ }."

It is narrated from Hazrat Abdullah that it is written in the Torah that Allah Almighty has prepared such blessings for those people whose sides remain away from their beds due to excessive worship, which no eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no heart has ever conceived of; neither any angel nor any messenger has knowledge of them. And we recite: { فَلاَ تَعْلَمُ نَفْسٌ مَا أُخْفِیَ لَہُمْ مِنْ قُرَّۃِ أَعْیُنٍ } etc., the verse.

Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) regarding the verse of the Holy Qur’an { وَسِیقَ الَّذِیْنَ اتَّقَوْا رَبَّہُمْ اِِلَی الْجَنَّۃِ زُمَرًا } says that when the people of Paradise reach one of the gates of Paradise, they will find a tree near its gate, from its roots two springs will be flowing. The people of Paradise will come to one of them as they have been commanded, and then they will purify themselves with it. Then the water of “Nadrat al-Na’eem” will be poured over them, after which there will be no change in their bodies, nor will they become disheveled, as if oil or ointment has been applied to them. Then they will come to the second spring and drink from it, and by drinking it, every kind of illness and pain in their stomachs will be removed. 2. The angels will meet them, and the angels will say to them { سَلاَمٌ عَلَیْکُمْ طِبْتُمْ ، فَادْخُلُوہَا خَالِدِینَ } The narrator says: Glad tidings for you, Allah Almighty has prepared honor for you. Then some of their servants will come to their houris and say, “This is so-and-so” (calling them by their worldly names), “coming to you.” The houris will ask, “Have you seen them?” They will say, “Yes.” Then the houris will consider happiness insignificant and will come out from the threshold of the door. 3. When the person of Paradise enters Paradise, there will be cushions laid out, cups placed, and clothes scattered. He will recline on one of the cushions, then he will look at their foundations; their foundations are made of large pearls of yellow, red, and green colors. Then he will look at the ceiling; if Allah Almighty had not given him the ability, his sight would have been taken away due to the brightness. Then you recited this verse { وَقَالُوا الْحَمْدُ لِلَّہِ الَّذِی ہَدَانَا لِہَذَا ، وَمَا کُنَّا لِنَہْتَدِیَ لَوْلاَ أَنْ ہَدَانَا اللَّہُ }.

Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that by the One Who revealed the Qur'an to Muhammad (peace be upon him), the beauty and elegance of the people of Paradise will continue to increase, just as in the world ugliness and old age increase.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The people of Paradise will enter Paradise in such a state that there will be no hair on their bodies, their head hair will be curly, and their eyes will be adorned with kohl. They will be thirty-three years old, their height will be sixty cubits, and their width will be seven cubits.

Hazrat Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) says that the servant boys of the people of Paradise will say: From where should we bring fruit for you and from where should we serve you cups?

It is narrated from Hazrat Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him), son of Abu Al-Huzail, that Hazrat Musa (peace be upon him) asked Allah Almighty, "O Allah! How strange is this matter from Your side? Your friends (the righteous people) remain fearful in the world, they are killed, they are captured, then they are cut into pieces, while Your enemies eat whatever they wish and drink whatever they wish." Allah Almighty said, "Show My servant a tour of Paradise." Hazrat Musa (peace be upon him) saw there such blessings as he had never seen before: cups placed, cushions set upright, scattered clothes, and houris with wide eyes, and various fruits, and servants as if they were hidden pearls—all these were shown to him. Allah Almighty said, "When this is the abode of My friends, then whatever hardships befall them in the world, does it harm them?" Then He said, "Show My servant a tour of Hell." Thus, Hazrat Musa (peace be upon him) was taken to Hell, where he saw a group; upon seeing them, Hazrat Musa (peace be upon him) fainted. When he regained some consciousness, Allah Almighty said, "When this is the abode of My enemies, then whatever blessings they receive in the world, does it benefit them?" Hazrat Musa (peace be upon him) said, "Not at all."

Hazrat Ka'b states that Allah Almighty has created an angel, and from the day he was created, he has been preparing jewelry for the people of Paradise and will continue to do so until the Day of Judgment. If even one bracelet from these ornaments is revealed to the world, the light of the sun would fade away. So, do not ask further about the jewelry of Paradise.

Ibrahim says that the people of Paradise may have intercourse as much as they wish, but there will be no offspring; whenever he turns away for a moment, desire will be created for him again, and after a moment's pause, desire will be created for him again.

Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) was asked whether there will be children in Paradise. Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) replied: If they wish, then it will happen.

It is narrated from Hazrat Awf bin Malik that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: I even know the last person who will be admitted to Paradise. He will be the person who will ask Allah to be taken out of Hell. When the people of Paradise will have entered Paradise and the people of Hell will have entered Hell, this will be between them. He will say, "O Allah! Bring me near to the gate of Paradise." He will be told, "O son of Adam! Did you not ask that you be taken out of Hell?" He will say, "O Allah! Who can be like You? Bring me near to the gate of Paradise." He will be told, "O son of Adam! Did you not ask that you be taken out of Hell?" He will say, "Who is like You, O Allah! Bring me near to the gate of Paradise." Then, when he is near the gate of Paradise, he will see a tree and say, "Bring me near to this tree so that I may enjoy its shade and eat its fruit in peace." Allah will say, "O son of Adam! Did you not say that you would not ask again?" He will say, "O Allah! Who can be like You? Bring me near to it." Then he will see something even better and say, "O my Allah! Bring me near to it." Allah will say, "O son of Adam! Did you not say that you would not ask again?" He will say, "O Allah! Who can be like You? Bring me near to it." He will be told, "Run towards Paradise. As much of Paradise as your feet tread and your eyes see, it is for you." He will run until he is exhausted and worn out, then he will say, "O Allah! Is this and that for me?" Allah will say, "The like of it and twice as much is for you." He will say, "My Lord is pleased with me. If I am permitted the clothes and food of the people of the world, I will be able to manage with that."

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Sa'id Al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The lowest ranking person in Paradise will have this status that Allah will turn a person's face from Hell towards Paradise, and a shady tree will be shown to him. That person will say, "O my Lord! Bring me near to that tree so that I may benefit from its shade." Allah will say, "If I bring you near to it, will you ask Me for anything else besides this?" He will say, "No, by Your honor, I will not ask." Allah will bring that person near to the tree. Then another tree will be shown to him, which will be shady and full of fruit. That person will say, "O Allah! Bring me near to that tree so that I may benefit from its shade and eat its fruit." Allah will say, "If I grant you this, will you ask Me for anything else besides this?" He will say, "By Your honor, I will not ask." Allah will bring him near to that tree. Then another tree will be shown to him, which will be shady, full of fruit, and have water. That person will say, "O Allah! Bring me near to that tree so that I may benefit from its shade, eat its fruit, and drink its water." Allah will say, "If I grant you this, will you ask Me for anything else?" That person will say, "By Your honor, I will not ask for anything else." Allah will bring him near to that tree. Then Allah will show him the gate of Paradise. That person will say, "O Allah! Bring me near to the gate of Paradise so that I may sit under its threshold and see its inhabitants." Allah will bring him near. Then he will see the people of Paradise and its blessings, so he will say, "O Allah, admit me into Paradise." Allah will admit him into Paradise. When he enters Paradise, he will say, "This is for me, and this is also for me." Allah will say, "Wish!" He will wish, and Allah the Pure will remind him, "Ask for this and this," until all his wishes are fulfilled. Then Allah will say, "This is also for you, and ten times as much as this as well." Then when he enters his home, his two wives from among the houris will come to him and say, "All praise is for Allah who has chosen you for us and us for you." That person of Paradise will say, "No one has been given what I have been given."

Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), regarding the verse of the Holy Qur'an { یَوْمَ نَحْشُرُ الْمُتَّقِیْنَ اِلَی الرَّحْمٰنِ وَفْدًا }, says: Do you know upon what they will be gathered? By Allah, they will not be gathered walking on their feet, rather, they will come upon such camels as people have never seen before. Upon them will be saddles of gold, their bridles will be of ruby. The righteous will be seated upon them, then those animals will carry them until they knock at the doors of Paradise.

Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) said regarding this verse that they will be gathered upon camels.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abdullah that the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) said: I also know the last person who will come out of Hell. He will be the one who will come out of Hell crawling. He will be told, "Go and enter Paradise." He will go and enter Paradise. When he goes there, the people will have already taken their ranks. He will return and say, "O Allah! The people have already taken their ranks." He will be asked, "Do you remember the time you were in?" He will reply, "Yes." He will be told, "Wish and desire." He will wish. He will be told, "Whatever you have wished for is for you, and ten times more than the world is also for you." That person will say, "O Allah! Are You making fun of me while You are the King?" The narrator says that after stating this, the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) smiled so much that I saw his blessed molar teeth.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Sa'id that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The first group to enter Paradise will be like the full moon of the fourteenth night, and the second group will shine like bright stars, like pearls. Each of them will have two wives, and each wife will have seventy garments, and the marrow of her shin will be visible even through those seventy garments.

It is narrated from Hazrat Mughirah bin Shu’bah (may Allah be pleased with him) that Hazrat Musa (peace be upon him) asked, “O Allah! What will be the rank of the lowest person in Paradise?” Allah said, “A person will remain in the animal enclosure (in the dung heap) in such a way that people will have imprisoned him. He will be commanded, ‘Enter Paradise.’ He will say, ‘How should I enter? People have already gone ahead of me.’ He will be told, ‘Wish for the kingdom and sovereignty equal to that of four kings of the world.’ He will say, ‘Such and such king,’ and he will count four kings. Then he will be told, ‘Wish for whatever you desire in your heart.’ He will wish. Then he will be told, ‘Wish for whatever you want.’ He will wish. Then he will be told, ‘All this is for you and ten times more.’ Hazrat Musa (peace be upon him) asked, ‘O Allah! What blessings are there for Your sincere friends?’ It was said to him, ‘This is what I have intended. I have made it for their honor and have sealed it with My own hand—blessings which no eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no human heart has ever imagined.’ Then this verse was recited: { فَلَا تَعْلَمُ نَفْسٌ مَّآ اُخْفِیَ لَھُمْ مِّنْ قُرَّۃِ اَعْیُنٍ جَزَآئً بِمَا کَانُوْا یَعْمَلُوْن }

It is narrated from Hazrat Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) that the people of 'Illiyin will have windows from which they will look; when any dweller of Paradise is seen by them from above, Paradise will become illuminated because of them. The people of Paradise will say, "Someone from 'Illiyin has looked."

The Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: The space of a bow or a whip of any one of you in Paradise is better than the world and whatever is in it.

Hazrat Yahya bin Abi Kathir, in the commentary of the Holy Qur'an verse { فِی رَوْضَۃٍ یُحْبَرُونَ }, states that "al-habr" refers to listening in Paradise, that is, listening to singing.

The Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: By the One in whose hand is the soul of Muhammad (ﷺ), if a maiden of Paradise were to look upon the people of the earth, the whole earth would be filled with the fragrance of musk. The veil of a woman of Paradise is better than the world and whatever is in it. Do you know what is meant by "naseef"? It is a veil.

The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: In Paradise, a place as small as a span is better than the world and whatever is in it.

It is narrated from Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the rank of the lowest dweller of Paradise will be such that a person will have a thousand palaces, and between every two palaces there will be a distance of one year. He will see the end of it just as he sees its nearness. In every palace there will be houris with beautiful eyes, fragrant plants, and youthful servants. Whatever they desire will be presented to them.

It is narrated from Hazrat Mughith that in Paradise, some palaces are of gold, some of silver, some of ruby, and some of emerald; its mountains are of musk and its soil is of wars and saffron.

Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that one among the people of Paradise will say, "Take us to the market," then they will come to the mountains of musk and will sit there and converse with each other.

It is narrated from Ibrahim that a person in Paradise will be given the desire of a hundred men, their food, their needs, and desires. When he eats, he will be given pure wine to drink, because of which sweat like musk will come out from his body, and his desire and longing will return anew.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) that on the Day of Resurrection, everyone will be gathered, then it will be called out: Where are the poor and needy of this Ummah? Then they will be brought and it will be asked of them: What do you have, what have you brought? They will submit: O our Lord! You tested us with various calamities, we remained steadfast, You know. The narrator says: I am seeing them, You kept wealth and kingship away from us. It will be said to them: You have spoken the truth. They will be admitted to Paradise before all people, and the severity of reckoning will remain for the wealthy and the kings. The narrator says: I asked, where will the believers be on that day? He said: For them, chairs of light will be placed, clouds will give them shade, and that day will pass for them in less than the time of an hour of the day.

It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that Hazrat Abdullah bin Salam (may Allah be pleased with him) came to the service of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in Madinah and asked, "What will be the first thing that the people of Paradise will eat?" The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Hazrat Jibreel (peace be upon him) has informed me that the first food of the people of Paradise will be the extra lobe of the fish's liver."

Hazrat Dhahhak (may Allah be pleased with him) says in the explanation of the verse { أُولَئِکَ یُجْزَوْنَ الْغُرْفَۃَ } of the Holy Qur'an that "Ghurfah" refers to Paradise.

Hazrat Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) recited the verse of the Holy Qur'an about the Gardens of Eden from the pulpit and said: Do you know what the Gardens of Eden are? He said: It is a palace in Paradise which has five thousand doors, and at each door there are twenty-five thousand houris. Only prophets will enter it; glad tidings for the one in this grave, and he (may Allah be pleased with him) pointed towards the blessed grave of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). And the Siddiq will enter it; glad tidings for Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him). And the martyrs will enter it, and indeed I am awaiting martyrdom. "And how will Umar attain martyrdom?" Then he said: By the One Who took me out of my house, He is capable of bringing this martyrdom to me.

Hazrat Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) says that "Jannat 'Adn" refers to the middle of Paradise.
