Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

It is narrated from Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that when the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) intended to return from a journey, he would say: "We are returning, repenting, worshipping, and praising our Lord." Then, when he entered his family, he would say: "We repent, we repent, we turn to our Lord, who leaves no sin upon us."

It is narrated from Hazrat Bara’ (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would return from a journey, he would recite this supplication: “Aayiboon, ta’iboon, ‘aabidoon, li rabbina haamidoon.” “We are those who return, those who repent, those who worship, and those who praise our Lord.”

It is narrated from Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that when the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) returned from an army expedition, a detachment, Hajj, or Umrah, and came to a mountain pass or open ground, he would say Takbeer three times and then recite this supplication: "There is no god but Allah, alone; Allah fulfilled His promise; we are returning, repenting, worshipping, and praising our Lord."

It is narrated in a similar manner from Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both).

Hazrat Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that he was on a journey with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. When they returned to Madinah, the Holy Prophet ﷺ recited this supplication: "Aayiboon, ta’iboon, ‘aabidoon, li rabbina in sha’ Allah, li rabbina hamidoon." “We are returning, repenting, worshipping, and praising our Lord, if Allah wills, we are praising our Lord.”

Ibrahim Taimi (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that when the noble Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) would return from a journey, they would recite this supplication: "We are those who return, those who repent, those who worship, and those who praise our Lord."

It is narrated from Hazrat Al-Bara’ (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would return from a journey, he would recite this supplication: “Aayiboon, ta’iboon, li rabbina hamidoon.” “We are those who return, those who repent, those who worship, and those who praise our Lord.”
