Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that Akidar sent a pot filled with halwa as a gift to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) distributed it among us.

It is narrated from Hazrat Urwah (may Allah be pleased with him) that Ukaydir sent a gift to the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) accepted his gift even though he was a polytheist.

It is narrated from Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that Akidar sent a silk cloth as a gift to the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave that cloth to Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) and said: Make a veil for women from it.

It is narrated from Hazrat Zuhri (may Allah have mercy on him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not accept a gift from a polytheist. Hazrat Zuhri says that after the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), the rulers used to accept their gifts.

It is narrated from Hasan that Iyad bin Himar sent a gift to the Prophet (peace be upon him). The Prophet (peace be upon him) said to him: O Iyad! Have you become a Muslim? He replied: No. The Prophet (peace be upon him) returned his gift to him and said: We do not accept the gift (present) of polytheists.

It is narrated from Hazrat Aamir (may Allah be pleased with him) that Dihyah al-Kalbi sent the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) a cloak and two socks as a gift. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) accepted them and continued to wear them until they wore out. Hazrat Sha’bi says: I do not know whether they were made from the same leather from which socks are made or not.

It is narrated from Hazrat Saad bin Ibrahim that Muqawqis sent a gift to the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him), and the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) accepted it.
