Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Umamah that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade selling before the distribution of spoils on the day of the Battle of Khaybar.

Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) says that if a person sells his share before the distribution of the spoils of war, there is no harm in it.

Hazrat Abu Marzuq, may Allah have mercy on him, says that we participated in a jihad towards the west with Hazrat Ruwayfi' bin Thabit Ansari, may Allah be pleased with him. Then we conquered a place called Jarbah. Hazrat Ruwayfi', may Allah be pleased with him, stood up to deliver a sermon and said: I will say to you only what I heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, which the Noble Prophet ﷺ said to us on the day of Khaybar: Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should not sell it before the distribution of the spoils.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Saeed Al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade selling the spoils of war before their distribution.

It is also narrated in the same manner from Hazrat Abu Qilabah.

Hazrat Saeed bin Al-Musayyib (may Allah be pleased with him) disliked the sale of booty before its distribution and said that it contains gold and silver.

Hasan and Muhammad d also disliked selling the booty before its distribution.

Hazrat Ata says that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade this on the day of Khaybar.

The same is narrated from Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both).

It is also narrated from Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade this.
