Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Hasan (may Allah be pleased with him) says that if a person participates in jihad with several horses, then at the time of distribution of spoils, only two horses will be given a share.

Hazrat Mak'hool (may Allah be pleased with him) says that if a person has several horses, no more than two horses should be given a share; those besides these two are kept only as a precaution to be ridden after fatigue.

Hazrat Abu Ishaq, may Allah have mercy on him, says that we participated in jihad with Hazrat Saeed bin Uthman. Hani bin Hani was with us. I had two horses and Hani also had two horses. Five shares were given to me and my horses, and five shares were given to Hani and his horses.

Hazrat Hasan (may Allah be pleased with him) says that there is no share for more than two horses; if someone has more than two horses, he will be given five shares: four shares for his horses and one share for himself.

It is narrated from Hazrat Sulaiman bin Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) that if a person enters the battlefield with several horses, then there is a share for each of his horses.
