Hadith 35361
٣٥٣٦١ - حدثنا محمد بن عبد اللَّه الأسدي وعبيد اللَّه بن موسى عن سفيان عن موسى بن عقبة عن نافع عن ابن عمر أن النبي ﷺ قطع نخل بني النضير وحرق (١).
Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with both of them) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) cut down and burned the date palm trees of Banu Nadir.
Hadith 35362
٣٥٣٦٢ - حدثنا وكيع قال: ثنا صالح بن (أبي) (١) (الأخضر) (٢) عن الزهري عن عروة عن أسامة قال: بعثني رسول اللَّه ﷺ إلى أرض يقال لها أبنا، فقال: "ائتها صباحا ثم حرق" (٣).
Hazrat Usama (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) sent me to a region called Abni. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Go there in the morning and then burn it.
Hadith 35363
٣٥٣٦٣ - حدثنا وكيع قال: (حدثنا سفيان قال) (١): بلغني عن عمر بن عبد العزيز أنه أمر بالتحريق أو حرق.
Hazrat Sufyan says that it has reached me that Hazrat Umar bin Abdul Aziz gave the order to burn or said: that they should be burned.
Hadith 35364
٣٥٣٦٤ - حدثنا أبو بكر بن عياش عن أبي حصين عن سويد بن غفلة أن عليًّا حرق زنادقة بالسوق، فلما رمى عليهم بالنار قال: صدق اللَّه ورسوله، ثم ⦗٣٨٥⦘ انصرف، (فاتبعته) (١)، فالتفت إلي قال: سويد؟ قلت: نعم، فقلت: يا أمير المؤمنين سمعتك تقول شيئًا؟ فقال: يا سويد (إني (٢) بقوم) (٣) جهال، فإذا سمعتني أقول: قال رسول اللَّه ﷺ فهو حق (٤).
Hazrat Suwaid bin Ghaflah (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) burned the heretics in the marketplace. When fire was thrown upon them, he (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Allah and His Messenger have spoken the truth." Then he (may Allah be pleased with him) turned back, and I followed behind him. He (may Allah be pleased with him) turned towards me and asked: "Are you Suwaid?" I said: "Yes!" I submitted: "O Commander of the Faithful! I heard that you were saying something?" He (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "O Suwaid! Indeed, I am with ignorant people. When you hear that I am saying something, then know that it is what the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) has said, and it is absolutely true."
Hadith 35365
٣٥٣٦٥ - حدثنا عبد الرحيم بن سليمان عن عبد الرحمن بن عبيد عن أبيه قال: كان أناس يأخذون العطاء (١) ويصلون مع (الناس) (٢)، وكانوا يعبدون الأصنام في السر، فأتي بهم علي بن أبي طالب فوضعهم في المسجد، أو قال: في السجن، ثم قال: يا أيها الناس ما ترون في قوم كانوا يأخذون معكم العطاء والرزق ويعبدون هذه الأصنام؟ قال الناس: اقتلهم، قال: لا، ولكن أصنع بهم كما صنعوا بأبينا إبراهيم، فحرقهم بالنار (٣).
Hazrat Abdur Rahman bin Ubaid, may Allah have mercy on him, narrates that his father, Hazrat Ubaid, may Allah have mercy on him, said: There were some people who used to take gifts and salaries and would pray with the people, but in secret, they would worship idols. These people were brought before Hazrat Ali, may Allah be pleased with him, bin Abi Talib, so he, may Allah be pleased with him, imprisoned them in the mosque or in jail. Then he said: O people! What is your opinion regarding those who take gifts and salaries with you and worship these idols? The people said: You, may Allah be pleased with him, should kill them. He, may Allah be pleased with him, said: No! Rather, I will deal with them in the same way as our ancestor Hazrat Ibrahim, peace be upon him, was dealt with. Thus, he, may Allah be pleased with him, burned them in the fire.
Hadith 35366
٣٥٣٦٦ - حدثنا وكيع ثنا إسماعيل بن أبي خالد عن قيس بن أبي حازم عن جرير قال: قال رسول اللَّه ﷺ: "ألا تريحني من ذي الخلصة بيت كان لخثعم (كانت) (١) تعبده في الجاهلية، يسمى كعبة اليمانية"، قال: فخرجت في (خمسين) (٢) ومائة راكب، قال: فحرقناها حتى جعلناها مثل (الجمل) (٣) الأجرب، قال: ⦗٣٨٦⦘ بعث جرير رجلا إلى النبي ﷺ يبشر، فلما قدم عليه قال: والذي بعثك بالحق ما أتيتك حتى (تركناها) (٤) مثل الجمل الأجرب، قال: فبارك رسول اللَّه ﷺ على أحمس خيلها ورجالها خمس مرات (٥).
Hazrat Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Will you not relieve me from Dhi al-Khalasah?" This was the house of Khath'am, which was worshipped in the time of ignorance, and its name was the Yemeni Ka'bah. He (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I set out with one hundred and fifty horsemen, and we burned it until we made it like a mangy camel. Then Hazrat Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) sent a man to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to give him the good news of this. When he came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), he said: "By the One Who sent you with the truth, I did not come to you until we left that place like a mangy camel." So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed for blessings five times for Ahmas, his horse, and his men.
Hadith 35367
٣٥٣٦٧ - حدثنا عيسى بن يونس عن الأوزاعي عن (ابن) (١) (عبد اللَّه) (٢) عن أبيه عبد اللَّه بن الحسن: أنه كان لا يرى بالتحريق وقطع الشجر في أرض العدو بأسًا.
Hazrat Ibn Abdullah bin Hasan (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that his father, Hazrat Abdullah bin Hasan (may Allah have mercy on him), did not consider there to be any harm in burning or cutting down trees in the enemy’s land.
Hadith 35368
٣٥٣٦٨ - حدثنا وكيع قال: ثنا سفيان عن داود عن عكرمة: ﴿مَا قَطَعْتُمْ مِنْ لِينَةٍ﴾ [الحشر: ٥]، قال: هي النخلة دون العجوة.
Dawud (may Allah have mercy on him) says that ‘Ikrimah (may Allah have mercy on him) regarding this blessed verse { مَا قَطَعْتُمْ مِنْ لِینَۃٍ } Translation: Whatever tree you cut down. About this, he (may Allah have mercy on him) said: It refers to the date palm tree.
Hadith 35369
٣٥٣٦٩ - حدثنا وكيع عن (أبيه) (١) عن حبيب بن أبي عمرة عن (سعيد) (٢) جبير: ﴿مَا قَطَعْتُمْ مِنْ لِينَةٍ﴾، قال: هي النخلة.
Hazrat Habib bin Abu Amrah (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that Hazrat Saeed bin Jubair (may Allah have mercy on him) said: In this verse { مَا قَطَعْتُمْ مِنْ لِینَۃٍ }, by "Linat" is meant the date palm tree.
Hadith 35370
٣٥٣٧٠ - حدثنا وكيع عن إسرائيل عن سماك عن عكرمة عن ابن عباس: ﴿مَا قَطَعْتُمْ مِنْ لِينَةٍ﴾، قال: هي النخلة (١).
Hazrat Ikrimah (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: In the verse { مَا قَطَعْتُمْ مِنْ لِینَۃٍ }, "leenah" refers to the date palm tree.
