Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Mukhlid al-Ghifari (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that three slaves participated in the Battle of Badr, so Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) used to give each of them three thousand (dirhams) every year.

Hazrat Antarah, may Allah have mercy on him, says that I went to Hazrat Uthman, may Allah be pleased with him, and Hazrat Ali, may Allah be pleased with him, at a time when both of them were giving monthly salaries to the people's slaves.

Hazrat Wahib, may Allah have mercy on him, narrates that Hazrat Zaid bin Thabit, may Allah be pleased with him, was appointed as the supervisor of the treasury (Bait-ul-Mal) during the caliphate of Hazrat Uthman, may Allah be pleased with him. One day Hazrat Uthman, may Allah be pleased with him, came and saw that Wahib was helping him. He, may Allah be pleased with him, asked: Who is this? Hazrat Zaid, may Allah be pleased with him, replied: He is my slave. He, may Allah be pleased with him, said: I think he was helping those people, so fix two thousand for him. So he, may Allah be pleased with him, fixed one thousand for him.

Hazrat Iyad Ash'ari (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) used to give monthly salaries to slaves, maidservants, and horses.
