Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Haritha bin Mudarrib (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: On the day of the Battle of Badr, I saw myself that we were seeking protection through the person of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). And the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was the closest to the enemy among all of us. And on that day, he (peace and blessings be upon him) was the fiercest warrior of all.

Hazrat Abu Ishaq (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that Hazrat Bara bin Azib (may Allah be pleased with him) said: When the battle would become extremely fierce, we would seek protection with the person of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). And surely, the brave one is only he who stands face to face with the enemy.

Hazrat Hassan bin Faid Al-Absi (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Bravery and cowardice are traits found among men. A brave person fights with someone whether he knows him or not. And a coward runs away even from his own parents.

Hazrat Qabeesah bin Jabir (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Bravery and cowardice are traits or habits found among men. A brave person fights without concern for whether he will return to his family, while a coward flees from the son of his own mother and father.

Hazrat Abdul Aziz bin Suhaib (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was the bravest and the most generous of all people.

Hazrat Abu Ja'far (may Allah have mercy on him) says that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was a very powerful person.

Hazrat Qais (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that I heard Hazrat Khalid bin Waleed (may Allah be pleased with him) saying that on the day of the Battle of Mu'tah, nine swords broke in my hand, and in the end, I remained patient with a broad Yemeni sword.

Hazrat Hashim bin Hashim (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that I heard Hazrat Saeed bin Al-Musayyib (may Allah have mercy on him) say: Hazrat Sa’d bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) was the fiercest warrior among the Muslims on the day of the Battle of Uhud.
